What is Google Gemini API?
The Gemini API gives developers access to the Gemini family Google trains, with a rate printed per million tokens for each model and a free tier on several of them. On the card read on 2026-11-08, Gemini 4 Argon is 2.00 dollars per million input tokens and 10.00 per million output tokens through 30 November 2026, moving to 4.00 and 20.00 from 1 December 2026. Gemini 3.8 Flash is 0.75 and 3.75 through 31 December 2026, and Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite is 0.30 and 2.50. Flash and Flash-Lite models are marked free of charge on the free tier, which is what makes the Gemini API one of the few places a developer can build against a frontier family without a card. Pricing is stepped on long prompts for the Pro models, and audio, image and video inputs carry their own rates. Google AI Studio provides a browser console for the same keys.
