What is Prompt Caching?
What does 'Prompt Caching' mean?
Storing the processed form of a prompt's repeated content, such as a long system instruction or a reference document, so that it does not have to be recomputed on every request to a language model. Subsequent calls that reuse the same prefix reference the cached version, which lowers latency and reduces the tokens billed for that portion. It is most useful for applications that send the same context repeatedly.
