Quick answer: Gong is the stronger standalone choice in 2026: a full “Revenue AI OS” that combines conversation intelligence with engagement, forecasting, coaching and AI agents, supports 70+ languages and integrates natively with Salesforce, HubSpot and Dynamics. It is quote-only, with a Vendr median contract of $55,333 a year. Chorus has been part of ZoomInfo since 2021. It is now sold as a ZoomInfo product (chorus.ai redirects to zoominfo.com), with no published price. It makes most sense for teams already on a ZoomInfo contract. Checked September 2026.

Gong and Chorus were the two original conversation intelligence platforms, and for years the comparison was close. That changed after ZoomInfo bought Chorus.ai in July 2021 for about $575 million. Gong kept building a broader platform, while Chorus became one part of ZoomInfo’s go-to-market suite. If you are searching “gong vs chorus” today, the real question is usually Gong on its own, or conversation intelligence bundled into ZoomInfo?

This guide compares the two feature by feature, explains what happened to Chorus, covers pricing, and says who each fits. For Gong’s pricing in detail, see our Gong pricing guide.

What Happened to Chorus AI?

Chorus.ai was founded in 2015 and acquired by ZoomInfo, announced July 13, 2021, in an all-cash deal of about $575 million, according to ZoomInfo’s SEC filing. Since then:

  • The brand moved into ZoomInfo. chorus.ai now redirects to ZoomInfo’s product page, titled “ZoomInfo Chorus AI: Conversation Intelligence for Sales”. The only call to action is a demo request.
  • It sits in ZoomInfo’s engagement menu. ZoomInfo lists Chorus as “Conversation intelligence: Analyze every interaction”, next to a sales automation entry that links to a ZoomInfo and Salesloft partnership page.
  • It is packaged with ZoomInfo. Vendr’s ZoomInfo buying guide describes conversation intelligence (Chorus) as a premium feature that carries additional cost or comes with higher tiers. ZoomInfo’s public AWS Marketplace offers do not include a Chorus line.
  • ZoomInfo’s AI story has shifted. Its GTM Workspace, launched in October 2025, combines CRM, ZoomInfo data and “call transcripts and email history” with AI agents. ZoomInfo’s own product summary for AI tools (its llms.txt file, updated September 2026) lists GTM Workspace, GTM Studio, GTM.AI, Sales, Marketing and Operations as core products, without naming Chorus.

Chorus is still supported: ZoomInfo University runs Chorus onboarding and certification courses. But for a new buyer, Chorus is effectively a ZoomInfo feature, not a separate vendor.

Who Owns Chorus AI?

ZoomInfo Technologies, the B2B data company. ZoomInfo remains publicly listed; its Nasdaq ticker changed from ZI to GTM in May 2025. Gong, by contrast, is independent. It reported ARR above $500 million and more than 5,000 customer companies in May 2026 (Gong press release).

Gong vs Chorus Pricing

Neither publishes a price list.

  • Gong says on its pricing page that licences are priced per user, that there is a platform fee based on the number of users, and that integrations are free. Vendr’s buyer data puts the median Gong contract at $55,333 a year across 1,141 purchases, with a range of $11,474 to $203,173, and per-seat rates of roughly $1,200 to $2,400 a year (Vendr).
  • Chorus has no public price and no separate marketplace listing. Vendr reports a median ZoomInfo contract of $33,500 a year and treats Chorus as an add-on, without a Chorus-specific figure. Your price depends on the rest of your ZoomInfo deal.

Checked September 2026. In practice, Chorus tends to be cheaper for teams already renewing ZoomInfo, because it is negotiated as part of that contract. For a team with no ZoomInfo relationship, Gong is the more straightforward purchase.

How Gong and Chorus Record Calls

Recording coverage is the first thing to check, because conversation intelligence is only as good as the share of calls it captures.

  • Gong records natively only in Zoom. For Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, GoToMeeting, Amazon Chime, RingCentral and others, it joins as a meeting bot, according to its web conferencing documentation. It also captures emails and dialer calls through its integrations, and its Collective lists 300+ integrations.
  • Chorus records, transcribes and analyses calls with insights “within minutes after your call ends”, according to ZoomInfo’s call recording page. It highlights same-room speaker separation (useful when several people share one microphone), trackers for keywords and competitors, shareable snippets and mobile apps for iOS and Android. ZoomInfo’s product page does not list supported conferencing platforms beyond Zoom, so confirm Teams or Meet coverage in a demo if you rely on them.

For global teams, language support is the bigger differentiator. Gong states 70+ languages with AI translation of insights. ZoomInfo does not publish a language count for Chorus.

What a 10-Rep Team Should Budget

Using Vendr’s per-seat ranges for Gong ($1,200 to $2,400 a user a year), ten reps come to about $12,000 to $24,000 a year before Gong’s platform fee, which it does not publish. Vendr’s median Gong contract, $55,333, reflects larger teams and extra modules. For Chorus, there is no per-seat reference; the cost depends on how it is bundled into your ZoomInfo contract, and Vendr’s guide notes conversation intelligence is a premium feature there. In both cases, ask for multi-year discounts and renewal caps in writing.

Which Is Better for Coaching and Deal Reviews?

Gong has invested more in both since 2025. Its Enable product adds an AI call reviewer, AI trainer and role-play practice, and its deal tools include AI deal monitoring and win prediction. Chorus covers the core coaching loop well (trackers, talk-to-listen ratio, filler words, next steps, shareable snippets) and its deal intelligence captures contacts and activity into the CRM.

User reviews reflect the gap. On TrustRadius, Gong users mainly criticise transcription errors with technical jargon and non-English speech, clunky search and limited reporting. Chorus users cite difficult search, a wish for better AI summaries, and integration issues with the wider ZoomInfo ecosystem and Salesforce automation. TrustRadius’s recent review sample for Chorus is also much smaller than Gong’s.

Can You Use Gong and Chorus Together?

Not sensibly. Both record and analyse the same calls, so running both doubles cost and recording bots without adding insight. The realistic pairing is Gong plus ZoomInfo data (without Chorus), or ZoomInfo with Chorus plus a separate engagement tool. If you are migrating from one to the other, plan to export your call library first.

Who Should Choose Gong

  • Sales teams that want conversation intelligence, forecasting, coaching and engagement from one vendor.
  • Global teams that record calls in several languages.
  • Companies on Salesforce, HubSpot or Dynamics that want native CRM support.
  • RevOps teams planning to build custom AI agents on their call data.

Who Should Choose Chorus

  • Teams already paying for ZoomInfo that can add conversation intelligence to an existing contract.
  • Buyers who value ZoomInfo contact data appearing inside call and deal views.
  • Teams that need solid recording and coaching without a full revenue platform.

If neither fits your budget, see our Gong alternatives and the wider conversation intelligence software guide. For engagement platforms that now include call recording, see Outreach vs Salesloft.

How to Choose Between Gong and Chorus

  1. Check your ZoomInfo status. If you are on ZoomInfo and happy with it, get a Chorus quote as part of renewal. If not, start with Gong.
  2. List the modules you need. Forecasting and sequencing point to Gong. Recording and coaching alone can be met by either.
  3. Test transcription on your own calls. Ask both vendors to process five real recordings, including any non-English or jargon-heavy ones.
  4. Get the full price in writing. For Gong, ask for the per-seat licence and platform fee as separate lines. For Chorus, ask how it is priced within the ZoomInfo contract.
  5. Plan for the long term. Ask ZoomInfo about Chorus’s roadmap given its GTM Workspace direction.
