What is Hubdoc?
Hubdoc is a cloud-based financial document management and data capture platform built for accountants, bookkeepers, and small-to-medium businesses. It automatically fetches bank statements, bills, receipts, and invoices from hundreds of supplier portals and financial institutions — eliminating the manual process of document collection. Users can also photograph paper documents via the iOS or Android mobile app, forward docs by email, or upload scans directly to the platform. Hubdoc uses OCR and machine learning to extract key data from every document — supplier names, amounts, invoice numbers, and due dates — and automatically publishes matching transactions to Xero or QuickBooks Online with the source document attached. This creates a clean, audit-ready financial record without any manual entry. Documents are stored in a secure, searchable cloud archive organized in customizable folders, with bank-level 256-bit encryption. Accounting firms get a consolidated multi-client dashboard to manage all client accounts from a single login, with granular permission controls for collaborators. Originally founded in Toronto in 2011, Hubdoc was acquired by Xero in 2018 and is now included at no extra cost within all Xero subscription plans. When used with QuickBooks Online, it is available as a standalone subscription at $12/month.
