Microsoft Intune Pricing 2026: Plan 1, Plan 2, Suite and What Microsoft 365 Includes

The short answer: Microsoft Intune Plan 1 costs $8 per user per month on its own, but most organisations never buy it separately, because it is already included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium ($22), Microsoft 365 E3 ($39) and Microsoft 365 E5 ($60). On top of Plan 1, Intune Plan 2 is a $4 add-on and the full Intune Suite is $10 per user per month. From July 2026, Microsoft is folding several Suite features into E3 and E5 at no extra cost.

Every price below is vendor-published, checked September 2026 on microsoft.com and learn.microsoft.com, in US dollars, per user per month on an annual subscription unless stated. Microsoft notes that prices may vary with your Microsoft agreement, so large customers should expect a quote.

Microsoft Intune pricing at a glance

How much does Intune cost per month?

Intune Plan 1 costs $8 per user per month when bought on its own, billed annually. Intune is licensed per user, and one user license covers the devices that person uses, which is why a person with a laptop, phone and tablet counts once. Adding Plan 2 brings the total to $12 per user, and Plan 1 plus the Intune Suite comes to $18 per user.

For a 50-person company buying Intune on its own, that works out to $400 a month ($4,800 a year) for Plan 1, or $900 a month ($10,800 a year) with the full Suite. Most small businesses end up paying through Microsoft 365 Business Premium instead, where the same 50 users cost $1,100 a month but also get Office apps, Teams, email and Defender for Business.

Is Intune included in Office 365 or Microsoft 365?

It depends on the plan. Microsoft says Intune Plan 1 is “included in most Microsoft 365 enterprise licenses.” Specifically:

• Included (Intune Plan 1): Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Microsoft 365 E3, Microsoft 365 E5, and Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) E3 and E5.
• Not included (Basic Mobility and Security only): Microsoft 365 Business Basic ($7) and Business Standard ($14). These plans include Basic Mobility and Security, which Microsoft describes as a free MDM subset of Intune. It manages iOS and iPadOS, Android, and Windows 10 and 11 devices, controls access to email and documents, and can wipe devices, but it does not manage macOS or Linux and lacks most Intune policies.
• Other Office 365 plans: Microsoft says Basic Mobility and Security also comes with other Microsoft 365 and Office 365 subscriptions, which do not include full Intune.

So a company on Business Standard that needs real device management has two choices: add Intune Plan 1 at $8 per user, or move to Business Premium at $22, which is $8 more per user than Standard and adds Defender for Business security tools along with Intune.

What’s in Intune Plan 1 vs Plan 2 vs the Intune Suite?

Plan 1 is the foundation: device enrollment and configuration, compliance policies, app deployment and mobile app management, Windows Autopilot, conditional access with Microsoft Entra ID, and endpoint analytics. It covers Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android and Linux.

Plan 2 ($4 add-on) targets edge cases. Microsoft lists three features: Microsoft Tunnel for Mobile Application Management (VPN access for unenrolled personal phones), specialty and shared device management, and firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) updates. Most office-based companies do not need it.

The Intune Suite ($10 add-on) includes everything in Plan 2 plus the five advanced modules sold separately above. Microsoft’s own FAQ says the Suite “is the better value when deploying two or more modules at scale.” Buying Remote Help and Advanced Analytics alone already costs $8.50, so the Suite pays off quickly once you need a third module.

What changes for Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 in July 2026?

Starting July 2026, Microsoft is rolling select Intune Suite capabilities into its enterprise suites at no extra cost:

• Microsoft 365 E3 gains Remote Help, Advanced Analytics and the Intune Plan 2 capabilities (Tunnel for MAM, FOTA, specialty devices).
• Microsoft 365 E5 gains all of the above plus Endpoint Privilege Management, Cloud PKI and Enterprise App Management.

Microsoft says tenants receive 30 days’ notice in Message Center before the change is activated. If you are on E3 or E5, check what has already been switched on before you renew any Intune add-on. In practice, E5 now covers every Intune Suite module, and E3 covers about half of them.

Can I use Intune for free?

There are three ways to use Intune without paying for it directly:

1. Free trial: Microsoft’s documentation says the Intune trial is free for 30 days, and you can add it to an existing work account or sign up with a new one.
2. Basic Mobility and Security: included in Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard and Office 365 plans. It is a limited subset of Intune, not the full product.
3. Existing licenses: if your company already pays for Business Premium, E3, E5 or EMS, you already own Intune Plan 1. Many organisations discover they are paying for Intune and not using it.

What are the disadvantages of Microsoft Intune?

• Licensing complexity. Features are split across Plan 1, Plan 2, six add-ons, the Suite and several Microsoft 365 bundles, and the July 2026 changes shift them again.
• Apple depth. Intune manages Macs and iPhones, but Apple-specialist tools such as Jamf, Iru (formerly Kandji) and Mosyle usually support new Apple features faster and go deeper. Jamf’s own education FAQ positions Jamf as working “alongside” Intune for this reason.
• Microsoft dependency. Intune relies on Microsoft Entra ID for identity and conditional access, so it fits best when you already run Microsoft 365.
• Per-user pricing cuts both ways. It is cheap for people with several devices, but expensive for shared or kiosk devices with no named user, where per-device tools are often cheaper.

What can my employer see with Intune?

Microsoft publishes a clear list. On an enrolled device, your organisation can never see your calling and web browsing history, email and text messages, contacts, calendar, passwords, photos or the content of your own documents. It can always see the device owner, name, serial number, model, manufacturer, operating system version and IMEI.

Some details depend on ownership. On a personal device, IT sees only the last four digits of your phone number and cannot view the device’s location; on a corporate-owned device it can see the full number and locate a lost device. A company-run VPN or web filter is a separate matter and can log traffic that passes through it.

How to choose the right Intune license

1. Check what you already own. Look in the Microsoft 365 admin center for Business Premium, E3, E5 or EMS licenses. If any is there, Plan 1 is covered.
2. Under 300 users on Business Basic or Standard? Compare adding Intune Plan 1 ($8) with upgrading to Business Premium ($22), which also adds security tools.
3. Need one advanced module? Buy it standalone. Need two or more? Price the $10 Suite.
4. On E3 or E5? Wait for the July 2026 inclusions to activate before buying Remote Help, Advanced Analytics or Plan 2.
