List of the Best Photogrammetry Software in 2026

Editor's Summary · Photogrammetry Software

The first question is whether anyone will measure your output. If the deliverable goes to an engineer or a regulator, you need documented accuracy — Agisoft Metashape and Pix4Dmapper are the answers, and Pix4D's Quality Report exists precisely so the numbers are defensible. If the output is for looking at, that requirement disappears and most of this list works.

On desktop, the trade is speed against control. RealityCapture is far faster on large image sets and is now free below a revenue threshold, which changed the economics of this market. Metashape is slower and gives tighter reconstruction oversight.

For drone work, DroneDeploy, Pix4D and Propeller wrap capture, processing and reporting into one workflow. Propeller is specifically strong on earthworks volumes.

Phone apps — Polycam, Scaniverse, KIRI, Luma — are genuinely useful and genuinely not survey tools. Scaniverse is free with no limits, so test there before paying anything.

Quick picks for Photogrammetry Software

Who gets the most from Photogrammetry Software

  • 1Surveyors and civil engineers producing measured deliverables from drone imagery
  • 2Construction and mining teams tracking earthworks volumes and progress
  • 33D artists and heritage teams capturing objects and sites for visualization
How to choose Photogrammetry Software

Decide first whether anyone measures the result, because that single question splits this category and determines whether you need ground control support and accuracy reporting at all. If you do, test with your own imagery and check the accuracy report, not the visual output — a model can look perfect and be dimensionally wrong. If you do not, start with a free tool: Scaniverse, Meshroom and RealityCapture all cost nothing to try properly.

Learn More About Photogrammetry Software

Compare 19 photogrammetry tools on reconstruction accuracy, processing speed, survey reporting and output formats. Desktop, drone and mobile options.

Photogrammetry software reconstructs 3D geometry from overlapping photographs, producing point clouds, meshes, orthomosaics and terrain models. Three kinds of product share the name: desktop reconstruction engines where accuracy and control matter, drone mapping platforms that wrap capture, processing and reporting into a workflow, and phone-based scanning apps that made 3D capture accessible to everyone.

They are not substitutes — the accuracy required for a survey deliverable and for a visualization differ by orders of magnitude.
