What is Autodesk ReCap Pro?
Autodesk ReCap Pro converts laser scan data and photographs into point clouds and meshes for use in AutoCAD, Revit and Civil 3D. Its value is less about reconstruction quality than about the handoff: getting scanned reality into a design model without a lossy conversion step is the awkward part of scan-to-BIM, and ReCap exists to remove it. It handles registration of multiple scans, cleanup and region segmentation. It suits firms already committed to the Autodesk stack; standalone it is rarely the strongest reconstruction engine available.
