What Is the Difference Between Rippling and Deel?

Deel started with international hiring and added HR tools; Rippling started with a unified HR, payroll and IT platform and added global hiring. That origin still shapes both products.

Deel’s pricing page is organised around the type of worker: find talent, hire contractors, hire employees through EOR or a US PEO, and run payroll where you own entities. Every line has a published price.

Rippling’s catalogue is organised around business functions: HR, payroll, IT and finance, all on one employee record. International features (global payroll, EOR, contractor of record, contractor payments) are modules you add. Rippling’s comparison page argues that one system for domestic and international staff means less admin work and fewer errors.

Is Deel Better Than Rippling?

Deel is better for companies whose workforce is mostly outside the US; Rippling is better for companies whose workforce is mostly inside it.

Deel’s advantages are transparent pricing, month-to-month terms, and a product built around contractors and EOR hires. If you are hiring your first engineers in Poland, Brazil and the Philippines, Deel lets you see the cost before you speak to anyone.

Rippling’s advantages appear once you have a US team to run. It covers performance, learning, scheduling and a full finance suite (travel, corporate cards, bill pay); Rippling’s comparison page says Deel lacks employee scheduling and a comparable finance suite. Its Workflow Studio lets you automate across HR, IT and payroll. Rippling also publishes live support metrics and offers live chat that can move to a video call.

How Much Do Rippling and Deel Cost?

Deel publishes its prices; Rippling does not. Deel’s list prices, checked September 2026:

  • Find talent (recruiting): $14 per worker per month.
  • Contractors: $49 per contractor per month, or $325 per month with Contractor of Record, where Deel takes on classification liability.
  • Employer of record: $599 per EOR employee per month.
  • US PEO: $125 per PEO employee per month.

Deel’s FAQ says there are no long-term contracts and that EOR fees cover payroll processing and tax filings. For more detail, see our Deel pricing guide.

Rippling quotes every customer. You buy the core Rippling Platform and add products; most are billed per employee per month and some include a base fee. See the Rippling pricing page on Spotsaas for module detail.

For a like-for-like comparison, price a realistic mix. For example: 20 US employees, 5 contractors abroad and 3 EOR hires. On Deel, the contractor and EOR portion is arithmetic from the list above. On Rippling, ask for a quote covering the same headcount.

Which Covers More Countries?

Both cover most markets a growing company will hire in, but they count differently. Deel states full EOR employment in 130+ countries and contractor payments in 120+ currencies. Rippling states it supports global workforces through payroll, EOR and contractor management in 185+ countries, which combines several services into one figure.

If you plan to hire in a specific country, ask each vendor whether EOR there is run by its own entity or a partner, and what the local notice and severance obligations are.

Which Is Better for US Payroll and HR?

Rippling. Its US payroll, benefits administration, time and attendance, scheduling and HRIS are its core products, and it is one of the highest-rated HR platforms on G2 and Capterra. See our Rippling review for what users praise and criticise.

Deel does offer a US PEO at a published price, and Deel HR and Deel Payroll products. But if your company is mostly domestic, Rippling’s depth in US HR will matter more. For US-focused comparisons, also see Rippling vs Gusto and Rippling vs ADP.

Neither company’s US PEO appears on the IRS active CPEO list as of our September 28, 2026 check. Our Rippling PEO guide explains what that means, and our best PEO for small business roundup lists certified alternatives.

What Happened Between Deel and Rippling?

Rippling sued Deel in March 2025, alleging corporate espionage, and the litigation is ongoing. The key public events, as reported by news outlets:

  • March 17, 2025: Rippling filed suit in San Francisco, alleging that Deel cultivated a spy inside Rippling who passed on confidential information. Rippling’s claims include racketeering and trade secret misappropriation (CNBC).
  • April 2025: A former Rippling employee admitted in a sworn statement in Irish court proceedings that he had spied for Deel (Reuters).
  • 2025: Deel denied wrongdoing and filed its own claims against Rippling, published on Deel’s blog.
  • January 2026: TechCrunch reported that the US Department of Justice had reportedly opened a criminal investigation into Deel over the allegations.

Much of this remains allegation until courts rule. For a software decision, the dispute does not change what either product does. Some buyers weigh it as a question of vendor culture; that is a judgement for your team.

Who Should Choose Rippling, and Who Should Choose Deel?

Choose Deel if:

  • most of your team is outside the US, or will be;
  • you want to see prices before a sales call and prefer month-to-month terms;
  • you mainly need contractors and EOR employees, not a full US HR stack.

Choose Rippling if:

  • your core team is in the US and you want HR, payroll, benefits, IT and spend on one record;
  • you add international hires over time and want them in the same system;
  • you need to provision devices and app accounts automatically.

Our view: a US team plus a handful of international hires usually points to Rippling, while a small US presence and a large international team usually points to Deel. To see more options, browse the best employer of record services or the best Rippling alternatives.
