Spotsaas Editor’s POV

TeamViewer's free tier is genuinely useful for occasional personal remote access—screen sharing, file transfer, and unattended access all work without payment limits. The interface is straightforward: connect, authenticate, control. For business use, the paid plans ($49–$99/month depending on features) add session recording, multi-monitor support, and priority ...Read more

TeamViewer pros and cons

  • Free for personal use, making it accessible for occasional users helping family and friends without the need to pay for a license.

  • Easy-to-use interface, suitable for users of all technical levels, enhancing user experience.

  • Reliable and stable performance, ensuring stable and uninterrupted connections even over long distances.

  • Convenient for remote troubleshooting, aiding users in helping elderly or less tech-savvy family members.

  • Mistaken identification of personal usage as commercial, leading to potential bans and interruptions for users helping family without commercial intentions.

  • Limited customization and advanced features, potentially restricting the growth of functionalities for power users or business applications.

Terrible ethics!

Terrible ethics!! I got trapped in automatic renewal and did not receive the reminder TeamViewer said they sent out ... now I can't log into my account, I keep getting popups that render my computer unusable. I'm trapped with another year of paying for this software that I no longer use! They've threatened collections, they've taken over my computer and I can't log in and cancel auto renewal - I had to contact support to have them remove my auto-renewal for next year and to remove my credit ...

I hate this product and the ability to cancel - customer service is bad support is bad, RUN when sales team calls you - I just want to cancel this product and when you try they do everything in Germany - there should be a law that if you buy in the country you should send back in the language you bought it from - terrible, product service and i can't cancel this product

Teamviewer only works in 1 out of 10…

Teamviewer only works in 1 out of 10 cases. Whenever I want to share my screen with a non-IT expert, the process regularly breaks down. "Do I have to install?", "Oh, I need to close an existing session before installing, but where is it?", outdated teamviewer version at connecting partner and so on. Team viewer is not suitable for regular users!

Stay away from Teamviewer!

I've been using Teamviewer since 2014. And back on the days it was pretty good for it's service of use.Bit now, Teamviewer has totally changed direction, and the service is as good a useless now. AND DANGEROUS TO USE!They have started blocking out most of the free user service for the wrong reason. Telling us that we have supposedly used it for "Commercial" purposes. Which is totally buII$hlt and their excuse to throw us out. Also they are selling your data to 3th party investment. STAY ...

Unfair Practices with Contracts-Buyer Beware

I was sold a subscription as a remote option for a new business. Was told by Teamviewer/Marcus that it was the only option available to get the results needed at the time. As it turned out the service was used one time for the full year and there was no option for early cancellation or refund by Teamviewer. So I was stuck with the plan for the first 12 months then they attempted to charge my account one day after the contract expired stating there was a "continuous payment authority". This ...

TEAMVIEWER is created and run by russian hackers!!!

As so many of you have found and reported - DO NOT USE TEAMVIEWER for anything. They are a bunch of russian asswipes!#@$%!@#$.Many, many years ago before they were so popular, my company bought a license for my techs to use in the field. It cost $1500, plus $79 for each tech. The hounded us each year to pay for annual upgrades which we had no need to upgrade.Plus there wasn't anything different or better in the upgrades. Now the company has been pushing for mass upgrades over the past few ...

not worth a penny

I was using the paid business version. at some point it got stuck and need task kill on every connection and would not let me use the SW on my mobile. turned to their support and got no response. then they automatically tried to charge me for another year without even asking for confirmation. luckily I switched credit cards. Will never use this SW again

I was using TeamViewer without issue…

I was using TeamViewer without issue for about two years. It worked perfectly for me. All I needed to do was connect to two PCs remotely, one a media centre at home and the other a PC at my parents. I needed to be able to perform routine updates on both and for the media centre, add and delete media files. TeamViewer allowed me to do this easily. Then in May of this year I started to receive the "suspected commercial use" popups. I wasn't concerned as I was sure that it could be easily ...

I have used Team Viewer for 1 year…

I have used Team Viewer for 1 year under license. nearing the end of the year I found Splashtop which works the same and is a very good program. I sent them a request to turn off Auto Renew about two weeks before the end of the one year term and they refused. they say there is a 28 day notice required and that it is in the contract. I say this is bad sprotsmanship to use these "legal" loopholes to bilk people. Team Viewer knows my position and I leave it to Teamviewer to resolve this issue, ...
