Sumo Logic is a very powerful log storage and analytics platform

What do you like best? The power of the query language, and the speed with which I can execute queries over _huge_ volumes of data. The ability to rapidly build dashboards for monitoring and showing metrics is _really_ snazzy too. It's also become an invaluable tool for troubleshooting bugs and incidents for $DAY_JOB. What do you dislike? There are some quirks to the query language, as powerful as it is, that can lead to some awkward code, e.g., not being able to use regex to ...

sumologic review

What do you like best? The documentation and features. I was able to find what I needed, either through searching on google, or by figuring it out in the user interface. What do you dislike? Would be great if there was first-class puppet support. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? monitoring distributed application health and security.

Sumo logic is great for log aggregation and analysis and some performance monitoring

What do you like best? I live the live metrics the best. We have them integrated into our internal dashboards and it's extremely useful. I have worked with Splunk in the past, and while they provide the same out of the box log aggregation tools, Sumo logic's UX is far better. I have been able to solve complex issues, and create embedded queries for live dashboards. I know Sumo logic is cloud native and built around cloud usage. This means integrations are smoother, particularly when it ...

Sumo certification training 2

What do you like best? I like all the help that is available by the support team. Also, once you know about all the powerful functions, it can make work a lot easier. What do you dislike? The docs could be a little more organized. Recommendations to others considering the product: Take the training and check out the cheat sheet. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I'm monitoring my back end services. Adding dashboards saves a ...

Newbie to log parsing, finding SumoLogic very intuitive

What do you like best? The ability to perform groupby functions and parse logs into actionable information has been great. My regex and SQL experience feels relevant despite not being familiar with server logs. What do you dislike? I wish scheduling alerts and integrations wasn't buried behind so many menus... :( What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Checking day over day file transmission from data providers, catching SFTP sessions ...

Application Monitoring made easy

What do you like best? Sumo logic makes it easy to find training online and plenty of documentation to follow. Before I had an account, I was able to follow along with the certification training on YouTube and get a head start before the rest of my company got a chance to get official training. I don't normally contact support because all the information I need is readily available when I do a Google search. Otherwise, support responds pretty fast to my inquiries. What do you dislike? ...

Great for logging, but sometimes difficult to integrate with other data sources

What do you like best? Sumologic is able to collect all of our system level process data. This makes it easy for software teams to analyze datasets. What do you dislike? We have difficulty getting Sumologic data to "play nicely" with other data sources. For example, forwarding is difficult with hosted collectors - which we haven't been able to find a good solution for besides ETL through the API. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We ...

Invaluable insight into critical systems

What do you like best? Sumo Logic provides a platform for viewing the output of any configured system in your business. Many of these tools exist, but Sumo allows for deep querying and clever visuals of data that I have not yet seen in industry. What do you dislike? With the power that comes with Sumo Logic, there is a very steep learning curve to getting into any of the more advanced functionality. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? ...

Ease with logs using SUMOLOGIC

What do you like best? The structured & easy to read format of logs. What do you dislike? The query to filter logs, is bit difficult to learn at first instance Recommendations to others considering the product: Highly recommended as it provides ease of use. Saves time while going through logs and is more structured. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We are using it for log analysis. Since the logs are in structured format and ...
