The site was a headache for me to use

The email was a headache for me to use. I emailed customer service. They were rude and took a long time to get back to me. When you sign up for a paid subscription they falsely claim that you can get a prorated refund at any time. They never give you a refund they only give you a credit to get another subscription, so you can never get your money back. Update: I did get my money back.

Lost 4 years of emails due an error in their update

I have been with them 4 years. Got lots of people to change to them. Today i woke up to nothing. I had the app on ipad with face recognition. No longer there. I have emailed, twitter DMed. And publically tweeted with no luck. If i go to reset password it says i lose all previous emails. I can not risk that and as they dont answer i have no contact with key contacts. I am quite frankly appalled. The app updated last night so i am sure they are connected - but inability to get hold of them ...

Fantastic privacy centered email service

People act like this is a competitor to gmail. It’s not. It’s a privacy first email service where your emails are not used to advertise to you. The app is not exceptional but it’s definitely workable, keeping in mind that a lot of cool gmail features are because you share all your data with google and they use that to personalize the experience. It’s frustrating when people write terrible reviews because they do not understand what this is and how it works. I’ve been a paid user for a while ...

"Great Free Email Option"

What do you like best about Protonmail? Doesn't ask personal info such as birthday & name. This is great because if your email is compromised they wont have that information. This software is free to use, but can be upgraded for a fee. I also have the app and it works well. Email is secure and encrypted. What do you like best about Protonmail? I like the encrypted aspect of protonmail and the UI is similar to most public email providers which makes the switch easy. What do you dislike about Protonmail? Protonmail was hacked, which is a huge black mark on the record of a secure email provider. It's easy to believe that a "secure" email provider reduces the level of protective measures you need to take to secure your information, but that's a false sense of security. Excellent service

Excellent service that clearly puts security and privacy ahead of user experience. Still there are great apps for all major platforms. Perfect for everyone who doesn't like spyware and annoying ads.
