I would highly recommend it was used as my main email until I had some issues with people sending messages it was not working and not all websites accept the domain name so have gone back to using gmail for that reason apart from that it is very secure and one of my go to emails.

I was Thrilled with Proton's Encrypted ProtonMail so much so that I spent over $139 to Upgrade to their Plus Plan and ProtonVPN as well. Started migrating my Digital World over to ProtonMail addresses & Phone App. ProtonVPN worked great on my Router, & Phone. Thought Proton was Great! Until... Two days later I 'Replied' to an email I received that sent out 6 emails to other addresses. Best I can figure, Proton's System identified this as a 'Spam' Mail and 'Violated Proton's Policy ...

NEVER USE PROTONMAIL !

This protonmail blocked my all e-mails for nothing. NEVE USE PROTONMAIL. I used to hotmail and gmail for 20 years. And ı never lived that kind of thing even once. NEVER USE ! NOTE: (( They said that we will allow to export your datas from your mail so they will open my account for 28 hours.)) If they do that, I will delete my this rewiew. Thanks.

Outstanding product and customer service.

This is a great product and have used the free services for 2 years now and have also upgraded to paid service and VPN, their customer's service on the free accounts and paid accounts as been outstanding and quick response times. I made mistakes in the signed of accounts I don't want on the count and they helped sort it out untill my outcome was met. Keep up the good work Protonmail customer service team.

Well it all has worked out 100% to date

Not my real name - but I am a Protonmail user and also buy the basic VPN service through Paypal. Been using internet in UK since 2000. Tried many, many mail companies (some now have bitten the dust). This works really well for my needs - e-mailing between UK and USA and using as a registration e-mail address for various sites. The VPN? yes, really good and really fast, and works off an attractive easy to use platform.

Don't Understand All The Bad Reviews

I've been using protonmail for over a 3 months and have never run into an issue, this service is practically perfect and the free one is great for people who want to start having more private conversations. I don't understand all the bad reviews here about customer service, I had the best with them responding very quickly whenever I had an issue. I would recommend at least trying the free version and maybe upgrade later if you like the service.
