I've using prolific for some years now and is awesome

I've using prolific for some years now, and I love the experience and the rewards. The plataform is very intutive and simple, the payments are just in time and I never had a bad experience in those years.

My account has failed some checks

I was actively participating in all available surveys, but at some point stopped receiving invites. After several weeks I've contacted Prolific and was told that my account "has failed one or more of our automated checks, as well as our manual review." I wasn't aware of any kind of checks and reviews, also Prolific refused to provide any details about it. My account had to be deleted.

Banned for no reason. No explanation.

After receiving no surveys for a good few weeks, I contacted prolific and was told that I'd failed security checks and my account was blocked. This puzzled me, as I have been completing surveys with Prolific for over 18 months with no issues. I tried to establish what the issue is, but they wouldn't give me any information. I would have thought that if there were any security issues they would have been picked up before now - or is their secirity system so poor that it DOES take this long ...

Questionable data security. Questionnable behaviour.

Despite them banning me for "failing security checks" after 2 years of completing surveys, they just sent me this e-mail: Jim from Prolific here. We've got a study running right now UK based Call Centre Dark Triad impact on CWB that needs some more participants, and you're eligible! We'd love it if you could help out the researcher lubna rizvi by taking part, and at the same time you can earn a reward of 63p for 7 minutes of your time. Participate Now Are they serious? Speaks volumes ...

Think very carefully before using Prolific - either as a researcher or as a participant.

This organisation has treated a close friend of mine extremely badly, and he isn't the only person they have done this to. He was blocked from using Prolific after 2 years of completing surveys without any issues. He was informed that he has "failed security checks", but no other explanation given. The first thing that came to my mind is the poor level of their security, if it takes them 2 years to identify a "security risk" (I have to state that my friend is a genuine person, I find it ...
