Simple but not effective

The purpose of the application seems to be to keep it in the application rather than teaching the language. A person who does not know anything can make progress, but people with knowledge seem to spend a lot of time in similar activities for a long time. Although I have been using it for a while, I have not seen much progress. it would be more efficient if I spent this energy on a different platform. But I think it gives a good experience in a basic sense

useful App to improve vocab

I am trying to learn Russian, Arabic, French and Spanish and have found this app to be a useful way to expand vocab. I am aware this app will not make anyone fluent in any language nonetheless it is a useful way to spend time commuting to work on a train...with the sound on mute! Would be even better if (1) the 'ping' sound is turned off (2) The streak function is turned off for Super learners (3) the points function is removed (4) the 'stories' were less political ( some stories are ...

I have been studying Italian 14 months…

I have been studying Italian 14 months and have just returned from Italy. I am somewhat disappointed in the results. The traing is not oriented to traveling as much as it should be Learning horse, cow, bird repeated over and over again doesn’t help me in Rome. I was diamond 1st place multiple month earning points but also doing the lessons and listening. I plan to keep doing Duolingo but using Babble as my primary tool for the rest of the year to beable to compare.

I've paid for a Duolingo subscription…

I've paid for a Duolingo subscription and have been learning French for the last four months. Since I worked out how to opt out of the frankly oppressive 'league' system, which just drives you ever onwards, things are a little bit more chilled, and I am pretty happy. However, there are at least two very major omissions. First you cannot see or download a copy of your vocabulary learned to date, so it is pretty much impossible to go back and revise your vocab - you just have to hope words ...

I began to learn French with Duolingo

I began to learn French with Duolingo. As a free app, I made good progress for a while, but it becomes a game where you have to earn points (lives) to continue. Initially, you are allowed typos, but after a while it becomes a spelling test in which one error costs you a life. At this point you can't continue unless you register. You are offered a two week free trial with the option to cancel. I took the free trial, which demands a bank or credit card number. When I pressed the cancel button ...

Not Bad, But Could Be Much Better.

The verbal content is quite good, with the choice to repeat sections as often as you want - even if it does start you off learning how 'cool' and 'nice' doctors and lawyers are - it has a weird way of teaching! However, the written part is awful, particularly if you are using a completely new set of characters, such as Japanese, as I am. There is no opportunity to go back and refresh previous sessions, with the app just constantly throwing new characters at you and forcing you to move ...

For me this works amazing

I am still at the free learning material and I must say I love the way it is done. I am amazed how they combined to learn through game, the new vocabulary, grammar, speaking, writing. Thanks DuoLingo <3

Learning as a Game

My family has the group subscription for this app, and we all find it enjoyable. We love that it turns learning into a game!
