Scum through and through

Scum through and through. They have decided to start charging $2.49 for echecks. There is no reason at all to charge a transaction fee for echecks. An echeck is the same as a regular check- they take the money straight out of my bank account. My property manager already pays these scumbags for their tools. Now they want to charge me for the privilege of paying via echeck.

Removing Free Payment Options

This company went from offering a $0 e-check option to charging $2.49 an e-check, more than any other company out there. Then they told their clients to either pay $1 a unit to cover the fee for their tenants OR to push their $2.49 fee onto the tenants and low and behold a money grab was born. This was the only way to pay rent online for free… it’s giving elitism and corporate greed. Please stop.

Beware of AppFolio User Fees!

AppFolio is now charging apartment owners about $2.50 per month per unit to withdraw money automatically from our bank accounts. This is bizarre. No other company I've ever dealt with has charged for automatic monthly payments from bank accounts. Time to get rid of AppFolio and go back to mailing checks every month, which my bank will do for free with its bill payment system.

AppFolio is now charging HOA owners no way to pay dues without a fee. Effective July 31, 2023 there is now a $2.49 fee to every HOA owner to pay their dues to their HOA. The other fees are 3.5% for credit card and $9.99 for debit card. We were notified about this by email at 12:02 am today 7-10-2023. Consumer Rights Violations

The recent addition of $2.49 service fee for eCheck transactions is another example of greed. If any fee is needed it should be passed along to the property owners, not the renters. There is now no way to pay online without adding fees. This is completely ridiculous and asinine. I will be reporting to the State Attorney General and BBB for consumer rights violations.

Appfolio's Nasty Bait and Switch

Appfolio just pulled a nasty bait and switch on all of its customers and their clients. When we were first started looking to switch software service providers, Appfolio marketed their "free" E-Check services very heavily. Then in their initial meetings to get us started with their product, they continuously urged us to get our clients to sign up for this service. AppFolio changes terms in the middle of contract periods, refuses to honor its contracts, and is not ethical. We used AppFolio from 2019 to 2023. From using our data as a marketing database to changes in the middle of the contract term I recommend you try anywhere else.
