How to choose 3D Rendering Software
Start from the host application, because a renderer that does not plug into your modeller is not a candidate however good it is. Then decide whether the bottleneck is client iteration or final image quality — that determines real-time versus production, and many studios end up buying both. Test with one of your own heavy scenes rather than a vendor demo file; render times on a demo scene tell you nothing about your geometry and texture load.
