What is V-Ray?

V-Ray is Chaos's production renderer, used across architecture, product design, film and VFX for photorealiztic stills and animation. It plugs into 3ds Max, Maya, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Unreal and Blender rather than being a standalone application, so it renders whatever the studio already models in. Recent versions added real-time ray tracing inside the V-Ray viewport, narrowing the gap with the real-time engines during look development, along with AI Mood Match and Parallax Interiors, and collaboration through Chaos Cloud. Chaos also released a free Community Edition of V-Ray for Blender for learning and personal work. Veras, Chaos's AI visualization tool, was integrated across V-Ray, Corona and Enscape in May 2026.
