Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Zoom's core strength is screen sharing and participant management at scale—the platform handles 300+ participants without degradation, and screen sharing works across Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android without additional software. However, verify in your demo that the specific meeting size you need (under 100 vs. 500+) aligns with your plan tier, as participant ...Read more

Zoom pros and cons

  • High-quality audio and video for virtual meetings, especially with large groups.

  • Excellent customer service with patient and supportive representatives.

  • Easy screen sharing and whiteboard features for enhanced collaboration.

  • User-friendly interface and experience for both organizers and participants.

  • Limited marketplace selection for additional apps and connectors, restricting advanced functionality customization.

  • Newcomers might find the richness of features and customizations overwhelming without adequate support.

Great for meetings and classes

Great for meetings and classes. Before the pandemic, some departments of my children's school were already utilizing this program. Now, ZOOM had provided a convenient way to continue with distance learning and extracurricular activities. Additionally, it has been used to keep in contact with friends and family during the Shelter-in-Place order as well as family that lives far away. As with ALL online interaction, we have to be vigilant about people that break in with bad intentions or ...

Horrible customer service - non-existent customer service.

Paid for the upgrade so we could host meetings longer than 40 minutes. they took my $150 for the year but it did not upgrade my account. I get kicked off after 40-minutes each time we meet. Absolutely no response to repeated tickets, emails, and attempted phone calls. ("Sorry, your level of account does not allow for live support.") I would steer a large berth around this fraudulent company.

Called for 2 weeks

Called for 2 weeks. Our Trustees failed so I called in the 3rd week. Made the agent understand it is urgent. Then finally received email saying they tried calling but couldn't get through which I find difficult to agree. No response to my queries or email.I am wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that we are Islamic organisation or is it just because Zoom got too much demand now that customers are not if any value. After reading the reviews I am glad we didn't pay for 3 accounts we ...

Low success rate of audio

when it works, it's great. The problem is it rarely works. If you can connect the video you can't hear anyone. Spent more time and frustration trying to get it up and running than the meeting time. It's going to be a long school year at this rate since it's used for both our child's tutoring and classroom.

The Help Desk that's used as an instrument of torture!

I have been asking zoom to help me resolve a payment issue for 4 months. And all they do is send me the links to 4 blogs that should solve my problem. I have asked to speak to the head of the helpdesk, or at least someone who has more indepth knowledge. And my requests are always answered with more useless (because they're irrelevant) links. The product might be good, but my experience of the help desk is worse than useless. It's ability to leave you feeling helpless anf frustrated is toxic!!

Zoom have been a great help during the Coronavirus pandemic

I’ve only used on desktop, but: during Coronavirus I attended a conference for five days with up to 75 people attending, with video, each day from countries all around the world, and zoom held up brilliantly. Perfect? Maybe not, but without them this valuable conference would have been off completely. Zoom.us really saved the whole thing. And working from home, zoom has been great for both my wife and me to stay in touch with work and friends, I even had beers with regular monthly meet up ...

We have been using Zoom for music students…

We have been using Zoom to keep our music students going during this COVID-19 lockdown. It works, but the sound quality is highly variable. Sometimes it is okay. Other times it is so bad (distorted) that we have to pretend we are able to distinguish one note from another

Practically works

It is horrible, the meetings are always laggy and one time in class half of it was just so bad I couldn't here the teacher. I don't recommend this at all.
