Word of warning…deceptive

Word of warning to people looking to move to xero. They manipulate their offering to make you think you’re getting what you paid for, but it’s until you get into the detail that you realise they withhold information. For example, they don’t allow you to generate PDF Timesheets via their API. You would think that’s ok, and that you can just use the payslips API to get the data, but it turns out they withhold the YTD values so you can’t render a payslip yourself.... this is all to force you ...

Was great when I first started but now I'm realizing I've made a mistake.

What do you like best? Accounting was probably the most intimidating part of starting a business for the first time. I went with Xero because it looked less intimidating than QBO at the time and it supported payroll in my state for a very good rate. $29 for accounting with payroll up to 5 employees. Makes running a business much easier

Makes running a business much easier. Good product and good pricing.My only concern is around having to pay extra for the new expenses functionality. I like the additional functionality but that should be part of the existing product pricing.

I had an issue with the Payroll system…

I had an issue with the Payroll system but the support team (Carolyn was able to assist in resolving the issue quite quickly.

Great value. Great support. The only cons may be the size; the company has a large number of customers which make feature requests time consuming.

I have used Xero for 10 years or more and always loved it. Recently I added Payroll to both of my companies, and I have struggled a bit with setting it all up, but now we have cracked it, thanks to the great team at Support!But this week they really surprised me after emailing Abby, Sandrine and the team for support and chatting about our love of gin, they sent me a gorgeous gin mug in the post for my cuppa - and some sweets. I am still smiling .... what a lovely thing to do. Love you Xero!

PROS & CONS What are the best aspects of this product? I love Xero because it makes accounting fun and easy even for a lay user like me. The app is easy to use and you don’t need to be an accountant to make effective use of it. Test drive the app and I’m sure you will get the hang of it within an hour. Poor product, poorer customer service, won’t let you leave.

Nowhere near as powerful and useful as QuickBooks Online, which is sad. I am not overly impressed with Quickbooks either, so understand how poor this program is. Lacking in features, and just feels cheap. Then, when you realize this and cancel your subscription, you are forced to pay for an extra month of service anyway. It takes them ONE MONTH to cancel your subscription. No other service that I have ever encountered has such an unheard-of practice. When I reached out to customer service ...
