Low cost but comes at a price
Although SumUp are very cheap, the reason for this is apparent in the design of the SumUp 3G card reader. The plastic surround can break very easily when you lift the unit out of the printer to charge it, and I've found even simply placing the unit on a counter ends up blocking the device (as it thinks it's being opened up), so you have to request a replacement. And definitely don't drop it, as that always ends up blocking it and you have to pay for a replacement.

You're on your own!
I've been using Sumup for a many years, when it works, its good, when its not, you're on your own. It is cringe inducing when you have a customer in front of you (especially during this cashless pandemic) and the system fails. Many times my customers have had to leave my shop to go to a local cash machine ( I had to get a new reader to fix this problem, which took a week). At one stage (3 years ago), when I bought a new Huawei phone and it would not connect with the reader, the helpline ...
