Very useful for small charities
We are a small, charity run Village Hall. Having the Sumup system has allowed us to improve our events by taking card payments. This has increased our income.

A life saver!
A life saver!! Just as the Christmas shopping season starts my monthly paid for cardreader developed a software issue and I have been left without any method for taking payments. Fortunately I have a SumUp card reader - yay! Which I have been using instead. It's quick, efficient, easy to use, easy to check your sales instantly, brilliant notifications of sales and daily reports, sends quick receipts. A great service. And honestly I'd have thrown myself off a cliff by now if it wasn't for ...

Useless SumUp 3G card reader and incompetent support staff
I purchased the SumUp 3G card reader to make sales of fairly high value items (between £200-£700). The card point didn’t work to take payments of this amount and also doesn’t charge properly (so needs to be left plugged in). Also their customer support service is worse than useless. I wasted 40 mins on the phone to an incompetent member of support staff who’s only suggestion was that I buy another charging cable (which had nothing to do with the terminal itself not accepting charge from ...

Sent me an unsolicited MasterCard I never asked for. I’d never heard of this company and certainly did not open an account with them. They didn’t even spell my name right.

Absolutely not what it purports to be
Absolutely not what it purports to be. You cannot take payment over the phone or, to any value, using Sumup’s links system. It is also very expensive on a per cent basis. Only use sumup if you are dealing with very low values and with a customer present. Just to add to my comment having seen Sun Ups reply. Sumup’s Links system has a c £2000 cap on any series of payments from the same customer. Ridiculously low. And it charges an extra 1 per cent approx (perhaps a little less). So I repeat. ...
