SketchUp Reviews & Ratings
Spotsaas Editor’s POV
SketchUp's main strength is its learning curve—most users move from basic to productive within days, not weeks. The 3D-to-2D conversion works reliably for architectural drawings and permit sets. The component library is extensive, which speeds up common tasks like adding doors, windows, and furniture. However, verify in a demo that the software handles your ...Read more

SketchUp Review
What do you like best? I like sketch up because it is easy to use. I use it for 3D modeling and show it to customers What do you dislike? So far everything is good, but one thing can be improved is the commands. Some commands are pretty hard to use. Recommendations to others considering the product: Sketchup can improve on command/control and better resolution on google image What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? 3D Modeling

Useful for space planning
What do you like best? I work at a small family owned furniture store as a designer. We do not have a budget to afford design software so I find Sketch Up to be hugely beneficial with helping my clients to visualize space planning. You can create templates for designs that you use often and the entire program is easy to work. I suggest watching a few tutorials to become familiar with the program specifics but after that it's very easy. What do you dislike? It can be a bit time ...

Makes 3D modelling much easier.
What do you like best? The software is very easy to learn. It also helps that I'm able to import CAD files into my model. What do you dislike? Nothing really. The default buttons/toolbars were a little redundant for me but it's easy to customize. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I worked as a Junior Interior Designer and SketchUp Pro has made it easy to execute revisions within a short timeframe.

Could be better
What do you like best? The ability to move throughout the model freely. What do you dislike? It can be slow at times if you have a lot going on. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I can build a house and allow the clients to see what it will look like before the build starts

Easy to learn; great visual
What do you like best? Very user friendly and easy to convey concepts. Global imports cut time. What do you dislike? Layers system would be better if I could group layers. Can only import CAD files with pro. When importing cad files, you have to spend a lot of time cleaning file up before and after to make effective. Recommendations to others considering the product: Highly recommend. Very easy to learn and implement. Great visual aide. What problems are you solving with the ...

Good for Early Design
What do you like best? It makes it very easy to do quick early schematic mockups of buildings and projects. What do you dislike? Most of our work comes in the development phase, and Sketchup isn't effective for that. You can't develop construction documents from it, as it isn't a BIM/CAD software. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? It provides a very efficient tool for giving clients early renderings.

Great for quick 3D renderings
What do you like best? It’s a great program for quick 3D renderings. What do you dislike? It’s a quick program so the renderings are basic. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I’ve used this for space planning mostly and to create 3D images of what I’ve created in autocad.

SketchUp is the best modeling software
What do you like best? Clean 3D modeling. Push/pull style takes time to get used to but provides overall ease of use. What do you dislike? Add on prices. It’s difficult to model organic shapes and forms. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Modeling set designs and architectural plans. Taking 3D models into Layout and drafting them.

SketchUp Pro is a must have!
What do you like best? SketchUp makes creating models (pergolas, houses, etc.) quite simple. We actually have a few employees in our design department who had never used sketchup before working for us and within a year of using the program have mastered nearly every element. Another aspect that I enjoy is the 3D Warehouse they have to offer, if you're familiar with it, you know how easy it is to get lost in the thousands of models that were created by people across the globe. I've ...
