SketchUp Reviews & Ratings
Spotsaas Editor’s POV
SketchUp's main strength is its learning curve—most users move from basic to productive within days, not weeks. The 3D-to-2D conversion works reliably for architectural drawings and permit sets. The component library is extensive, which speeds up common tasks like adding doors, windows, and furniture. However, verify in a demo that the software handles your ...Read more

That's the best beginner CAD application
What do you like best? Very easy to use from the start. You can start using it straight away, start with the pencil and you are ready to go. Quick guide that pops out helps to learn this tool as you go. Using this tool is way easy for beginners than any other tool I know. Very intuitive indeed. I'm using it anytime I have to do a small or big project. When I'm not sure about how long to cut something, how much material I need, I go into it and design my product in SketchUp firs. I have ...

Started out an amazing free tool for anyone
What do you like best? Humble roots, easy to understand, quick to pick up, intuitive tools, quick designing What do you dislike? Now there’s a pro version that you have to pay for go use all the tools, really upsetting since I think the whole purpose of this was for it to be a tool accessible by all What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? 3D building, 3d design, conceptual development, construction investigation

Easy to pick up, great functionality, free, and just awesome overall
What do you like best? Textures, so many features, giant digital warehouse of shapes make this a great value for the free price. What do you dislike? Precise details are hard to ensure (e.g. corners perfectly touching, lines intersecting) without zooming in to the max for every minute detail. Pipe extrusion is also tedious. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Modelling diagrams for presentations and volume calculations.

Tool for designing and planning spaces and objects in 3D (dimensions)
What do you like best? I like the range of colors offered by the program to paint objects designed in three dimensions. It is a very easy to use software that has multiple work tools that facilitate the design of the objects being a saving in time of work time, because it does not merit studying much software to be able to handle it without any difficulty. I like it because it is recognized among professionals, and on the web there are many documents that facilitate the design of ...

Sketchup is any easy to use 3D modeling program
What do you like best? It is relatively easy to produce professional 3D drawings that depict the actual product will look like. What do you dislike? There isn't much to dislike here. After using other programs you just have to get used to how it works. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? It allows me to show the customer models of the product they are getting

All of your rendering and modeling needs
What do you like best? I love the simplicity of sketchup. It is so easy to use and I can show exactly how the concept of a space is supposed to look. And i love the warehouse, it makes it easy to find almost anything already modeled out. What do you dislike? Sometimes I don't like the fact that it is so simple, that some things one can simply not model. Usually there are ways around this though. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I am ...

Great for quick study models and construction documents
What do you like best? Easy to learn, plenty of extensions to expand capabilities, less expensive option to full BIM software, easily shared, and mobile compatible. What do you dislike? Not widely used by larger companies so collaboration can sometimes be a bit difficult. Recommendations to others considering the product: Well worth cost, even if only used as a light-weight design modeling tool. After initial purchase, upgrade/ renewal cost is much lower that traditional BIM ...

Best Interactive Modeling Program for Quick Client Presentations
What do you like best? Sketchup makes it easy for our architecture practice to quickly demonstrate to clients the potential their project has by seeing it in 3D. It is easy to use and powerful enough to handle most applications. What do you dislike? We really don't have many dislikes, but we would like to see a broader inventory of materials built into the program, which would eliminate the need to get them through another program. Recommendations to others considering the product: ...

Sketchup is easy to use
What do you like best? This is the easiest 3d modelling software to learn. It's extremely intuitive and with certain plugins like Keyshot, Vray, Podium etc, you can make your renderings look like it came straight from the big boys like 3ds max, Rhino etc. What do you dislike? Without expensive plugins, there is essentially no rendering ability. Sketchup allows you to export screenshots, but not much to complain about seeing as how this is a free software and incredibly easy to use / ...
