Are you using Sketch?
Spotsaas Editor’s POV
Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

An amazing tool that the digital design industry is needed for a long time
What do you like best? A focus on the team of only including what is essential to digital design. A growing open source community that constantly producers plugins that enhances the app. What do you dislike? Occasionally there are bugs, but these usually get worked out within a few months. Occasionally there are features that I wish were part of the tool that don't come along until a few years later. I'm assuming this is because of a smaller team that produces the app. Recommendations ...

The tool of choice for any sort of digital design work
What do you like best? The industry standard for digital UI design. Supremely flexible, with only the features you need to get the job done. Very quick and snappy to work with and startup, and very gentle on your Mac hardware too. It has come a long way, since its early days and most glaring bugs have been fixed to make it an excellent tool as a daily driver to do your job. Adobe felt threatened enough to build their own Sketch competitor with Project Comet/Adobe ED CC, which is the ...

The jewel of the graphics software crown
What do you like best? How amazingly simple it is. For the longest while, I had to resort to Keynote to deal with some stuff Illustrator was an overkill for. I was split between the two, and keeping my projects I had to choose wisely. These days, I have the only an only. And perhaps it is just me, but it seems like this app is pretty much in plain English. This eases the learning curve for non professional users, and reduced that feeling of being a dweeb, no unnecessary mouthfuls. ...

Best app for UI design
What do you like best? The iOS native controls, the ability to export to all the native iOS resolutions. Plug-ins are one of the best features if Sketch, they will make your life easier and speed up the design process. What do you dislike? From time to time Sketch crashes when launching What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Prototyping iOS appllications and UI designs, I can show the customer how the product/app would look like without ...

Thoughts and Impressions of Sketch 3
What do you like best? The speed, especially over Photoshop, is great. The UI isn't fussy and is customizable enough to be as complex or minimal as you want. Working with artboards is also a game-changer in terms of interactive web projects; shared symbols being able globally update on the fly. What do you dislike? It's a bit awkward adjusting to the UI if you're used to Adobe products. The tools and parameters are on on the right and layers/groups are on the left. Some of the font ...

Near perfect wireframing tool -- prototyping on the horizon?
What do you like best? Almost everything! I love the easy to use objects/shapes/vectors. They offer the appropriate amount of functionality for a wireframing tool. Sometimes I make pixel-perfect comps and it functions well enough. This software is clearly designed with a workflow in mind and it shows! What do you dislike? I would like to see better alignment to pixels would be helpful while working with curves/complex shapes. No I didn't want to place it at 335.5 pixels. Come on now. ...

The best User Interface Design Tool, Hands Down!
What do you like best? There is too much to love, so I'll give you my top 3. Organization: if you've ever used Photoshop for UI design, then you know about layer comps. And if you know about layer comps, then you hate updating them. With page, art-board, group and layer considerations, you can stay organized much easier, and remove all clutter! Symbols: like smart objects, but way better. Working along side developers makes features like this a life saver. When you have 20 screens all ...

Sketch is a awesome for both UX/UI
What do you like best? I used Photoshop and Balsalmiq for awhile before I knew about Sketch. When I started my most recent job, my boss asked me on day one to switch over to this newer program called Sketch. Of course I was nervous at first at my new job and asked to start with a new program I had never used before. To my surprise, Sketch was so easy to use! After just a day of playing around with it and watching a few tutorials, I felt really comfortable with it. The quality of the ...

All You Need
What do you like best? If you're familiar with Photoshop as a tool, Sketch is a no-brainer. There are a few shortcuts and tricks to learn, but the software is scalable and efficient for any UI project. Although it's a lot of the same stuff, Sketch offers a clean and efficient experience by limiting you to 3 intuitive areas of the application: the menu at the top, the layers and boards to the left, and the properties of each element on the right. Everything is grouped together in a neat ...

THE must-have tool for any UX or web designer
What do you like best? My god, what DOESN'T this app do? • vector-based design studio with intuitive tools, • infinite pages with infinite layers and artboards • open source plugins for easier use and workflows • uses apple's auto-save features for browsing all revision history and restoring a prior version, or even copying an element, group, or entire layer or artboard contents from a prior version to the clipboard and copying to your current version • smart updating ...
