Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Easy to use tool for visual design

What do you like best? I love the intuitive keyboard shortcuts. Unlike adobe the learning curve isn't too steep. I also like the artboard feature where you can choose an artboard based on what platform you are designing for. What do you dislike? Sometimes when I am trying to select a particular element, I have to click multiple times and still select the wrong element. Also, sometimes when you have images placed outside the artboard, they do not appear. This makes it difficult to find ...

Faster, easier than photoshop

What do you like best? My team is working on a really fast-paced project that would not be able to meet our deadlines and deliverables if we were still using photoshop. We have so many files that we can design, change and update quickly without worrying about versioning and layers. What do you dislike? Nothing to complain about here - love the program and it's helping us complete a project that would be close to impossible to do in photoshop. Recommendations to others considering ...

1-2 years of experience building prototypes and mockups in Sketch

What do you like best? User friendly! Point, click, drag, drop, multiple libraries on demand, templates--everything you need, when compares to some other design tools. Way easier to build out a good UI with this tool. What do you dislike? Inability to make prototypes interactive. Must use Sketch in conjunction with InVision. Would be nice if you could just make everything interactive in app. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? User ...

Sketch for life

What do you like best? Sketch is an ideal tool for making actual product designs from mobile, web, and even print (even though this isn't as useful. It used to be a part time tool and it's all I use. What do you dislike? Sketch doesn't have a way to use designs as well for print, like business cards. I think they could find a way to give you the bare minimum tools for this. Recommendations to others considering the product: Stick with this tool and it gets more useful the more time ...

Best Tool for Digital Design

What do you like best? Sketch is fast and intuitive; it feels like it was designed by digital designers, for digital designers. It's quick and simple to create wireframes or designs, and Sketch connects with a slew of other softwares to make communicating these designs internally and externally super easy. What do you dislike? I figure it's a shame that they program is mac-only. This doesn't effect my ability to use it, but it does impact my ability to share raw files with certain ...

One of best program to make wireframes and the look and feel of a website.

What do you like best? The easy way to use it. This program is a kind of Adobe Illustrator because you work with vectors, but the file is lighter than an Illustrator one. There are a lot really useful tool, to make the workflow easy and fast. There are a lot of plugins that you can install. It is front-end friendly. The easy way to export slices of the artboard. Easy to convine with other programs, such as Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. What do you dislike? I can understand ...

Sketch going in the right direction

What do you like best? Sketch is far the best way to design website and apps to then hand over to developers. It's a very simple setup and takes no time to get used to it. Useful features included the template artboards and the ability to import and export design elements so easily. What do you dislike? It can feel too basic and some tools are quite-long winded to use. The guidelines are a bit annoying and work in the totally opposite way to Adobe software. A bit silly as designers ...

Journey from Frustrating to Appreciation

What do you like best? I like how Sketch suggests artboards from the get-go at the sizes of different screens designs most commonly use. They make it very easy to copy, drag, and arrange your different artloads (which are also labeled!. The plugins for Sketch also makes your workflow so much easier. For example, the plugin Craft, allows you to quickly generate relevant dummy images, names, locations, copy, etc, that you need to complete your mockup. What is probably the best feature, ...

If Apple design a tool for Visual Designer it would be Sketch

What do you like best? Basically it's all about it's behavior — it looks like native app, feels like native app, behaves like native app. Easy to use for OS X people. I like the way I could use Sketch on the go on my MacBook anywhere. It's easier to use it using laptop's trackpad and get work done. I just want to point out the Sketch Mirror — a compatible app for iPhone to see the live preview on device of your designs while you're actually designing it. Super useful. What ...

I love Sketch

What do you like best? The keyboard shortcuts are sensible and intuitive. I find myself trying to use them with Illustrator now. Symbols is a great feature, and they're working on improving it. For instance, I think you can now nest symbols. Their artboards are really great, and the exporting multiple boards at once is super useful. It would be nice to have guide templates for each artboard. What do you dislike? Type styles are pretty abysmal. Something closer to InDesign's ...
