Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Great lightweight design tool

What do you like best? Very straight forward, easy to use, short learning curve What do you dislike? It cannot export to Adobe photoshop directly, which cause problem sometimes since some developers still use Photoshop as their primary tool. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I'm using Sketch for designing websites and mobile apps, it's lightweight and I can quickly design assets from scratch.

New (and cool) kid in town

What do you like best? I was originally hesitant to turn on my Adobe suite — however once you get the hang of Sketch, you realize how intuitive and fast-paced your workflow can become. Things I never knew I wanted or needed in Illustrator/photoshop are now in Sketch and it's amazing. What do you dislike? Some of the functions are different than adobe products, but the functions actually make more sense. So, it's tough to get a hang of sketch. I wish there was the addition of a grid ...

Easy to use

What do you like best? The best thing about sketch is that it has all the features that photoshop/illustrator are missing. It's a great way to work quickly, especially with all the custom plugins that you can download to speed up your process. What do you dislike? Some things are not as easy on sketch as it is on photoshop and illustrator. If they can make sketch even more easily integrate into these products, that would be excellent! What problems are you solving with the product? ...

Easy to pick up and start playing around

What do you like best? straight forward enough to not be daunting. not cluttered and overloaded with unnecessary features. still powerful enough to create high quality mockups quickly, and export hand off. lots of plugins for added features and value. the plugins are also nice because they usually come recommended from people, so it's easier to find higher quality ones. What do you dislike? limitations of image editing. small bugs here and there. Recommendations to others considering ...

Rapid learning curve

What do you like best? The ease of using Sketch, especially when working with multiple artboards, is what appeals to me about this product. Exporting work is also really easy. What do you dislike? In terms of creating graphics you are limited by the very basic control panel. I really hate how I can't grab an image if it's a lower layer by the part that's off the artboard. So annoying! Also, when I have a lot of artboards and links, the program runs very slowly. And especially when I ...

Sketch - the design tool you didn't realized that you need.

What do you like best? I love how fast sketch is to learn and use. I was able to spend 2 hours watching a Lynda.com video and then start working right away. I use Sketch with both Invision and Zeplin and the integration with those apps is WONDERFUL. Invision is great for building fast, high-level prototypes and Zeplin is great for collaborating with developers. What do you dislike? There's something about how the layers work and object selection works that I just don't exactly get. ...

So easy to use.

What do you like best? Since I have used illustrator for many years I was impressed how easy this was to learn. Sketch is so similar that it took very little time to figure out how to use the tools. What do you dislike? So far I have not found anything I dislike about it. Recommendations to others considering the product: Just give it a try, completely worth the small amount of time it takes to learn. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? ...

Powerful and easy to use design tool

What do you like best? It's so easy to use! It took me only a few hours to get the hang of it because everything is very intuitive. What do you dislike? Sometimes I find it a little tricky to select certain objects without selecting all objects on my canvas. You have to be pretty precise when you click. Recommendations to others considering the product: Sketch is a great tool for any level of design experience. It only took me a few hours of self-taught practice until I had the ...

The new standard for UI design

What do you like best? Sketch is an incredible vector based too for designing webpage and app interfaces. Common design elements can be easily distributed across multiple art boards representing the various screens of your app or website. Simple interactivity can be added to your design for easy demonstrations to your client. With the Sketch Mirror app, you can actually preview it on an iOS device. There are hundreds of plugins for Sketch that add further capabilities for Sketch. The ...
