Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Hesitant Fan

What do you like best? I really like how clear the image is when mocking things up. When you save out at different sizes, they are always clear What do you dislike? I dislike some of the clicking habits. I am used to using photoshop, so get thrown off when in another program Recommendations to others considering the product: There are a lot of tutorials to be watched, so definitely look into those What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I ...

Great program

What do you like best? Creating symbols with different overrides What do you dislike? I know you can work around it, but I wish color was a possible override on symbols. I also like the various plugins and animation feature. I wish animation included transitions like Principle allows. Recommendations to others considering the product: Love the symbols and all the plugins. There is a slight learning curve, but overall a great program. What problems are you solving with the ...

Faster prototyping and design in the ever-evolving digital era

What do you like best? Faster prototyping and concept generation. Using symbols makes layers clean and consistent. It syncs with so many other tools and programs - InVision, UXPin, Avocode and Zepplin to name a few. It really feels like the people who design the tools use it everyday to create great websites and apps, so they've thought of all the needs they would want to have in a tool. What do you dislike? Not available on PCs, which is less of an issue for me, but is an issue for ...

Best tool for UI design

What do you like best? Simple UI and easy to learn, best of all, it's affordable. What do you dislike? Every object is in its own layer and sometimes it can get to too may layers when working on a complicated design project. It gets hard to select multiple layers at once and difficult to move them around. Recommendations to others considering the product: Definitely a good on software besides Adobe Creative Suite. Works well with Invision. What problems are you solving with the ...

Great tool for web-based design

What do you like best? The various, pre-set, templates for all the different responsive and screen sizes. The ability to sync various plugins to make it even more easy to use. What do you dislike? The short cut keys are not too intuitive, specially if you are used to using Creative Cloud. I'm also not too keen on the drawing tools, creating custom masks can be tricky. Recommendations to others considering the product: Find out all the plugins available for it and use them! What ...

Perfect Wireframe Software

What do you like best? I appreciate the ease and simplicity of use. I only had a week to learn to use this program before submitting basic wireframes to my team and I found it to be intuitive while remaining robust. What do you dislike? There isn't anything I found that I disliked while using Sketch as of yet. Recommendations to others considering the product: If you are familiar with design tools, learning to use this software comes very easy. Knowing how to use that tool ...

Simple, Easy and Straightforward

What do you like best? The program is, for the most part, friendly with adobe programs. It makes exporting a large variety of objects in different formats a little less time consuming than it would in Adobe, and the plug-ins make it flexible and customizable. What do you dislike? Key commands aren't always as friendly as I'd prefer them to be What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Prototyping has become easier

Faster and more efficient web design than traditional applications like Photoshop

What do you like best? The program is simple and intuitive while still having some powerful tools to aide in design and development tasks. Multiple art boards, smart grids, persistent symbols, copy css for any type or vector assets, ease of exporting assets at multiple sizes are a just a few of the many time saving features. What do you dislike? I would like a little more control over sub-pixel placement of vector assets. This is still handled in the program far better than Photoshop. ...

Great Hybrid Tool

What do you like best? In a word, scalability. Sketch allows my team and I to build, edit and scale design projects at a much greater pace than using traditional Adobe products. What do you dislike? It's a new tool, so there are some nuances that need to be learned. Where things are located etc. That said, their tutorial videos are great and it isn't that daunting. It is Mac only. While the rest of my company is a Microsoft shop, my team does operate in a Mac environment, so that's ...
