Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Nice tool for UX/UI designer

What do you like best? I can move very fast both to prototype and make high-fidelity mockups What do you dislike? Zooming in and out sometimes is super buggy. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Making high-fidelity mocks for delegating the designs with other members of the team.

Easy to pick up, efficient tools and shortcuts

What do you like best? The craft manager integration. Allows direct prototyping on sketch, and use of automated style guides on the go. What do you dislike? Still no easy way to create custom transitions on sketch, would be one step further than adobe Xd. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Quick way to collaborate with other designers, like figma's integration of online/live editing. This will be a good to have.

Don't use often, but a great a powerful tool

What do you like best? I like the ability to use multiple art boards and ability to export multiple resolutions on one pass. What do you dislike? I'm used to Adobe Illustrator, and this is very foreign feeling to be compared to that. The interface is just slightly different and the way you select objects is sort of odd. Recommendations to others considering the product: I think it's a powerful tool that delivers quality results, but the interface is foreign to me so it's hard to get ...

Sketch for UI

What do you like best? I like the easy export features and UI kits that are available for use. The plug-ins/extensions are extremely useful as well. What do you dislike? I wish there were screen containers (like iPhone/mac or android phone mock-ups that help create a realistic visualization of the UI. There are also no prototyping/interaction features (like in Adobe XD to provide a seamless UX design experience. Recommendations to others considering the product: While a lot of ...

Sketch is a very versatile tool

What do you like best? Tons of plugins to do various kinds of things. Especially creating specs doc. Symbols are great and ability to edit and create your own is also great! What do you dislike? When a design doc is created, it creates web html page. But it doesn't allow you to not select any art boards if you don't want it in the design doc. Specs when created using plugin is created as individual layers. I would like them to be under one folder as separate layers. Makes it ...

Simple to use, and makes my workflow faster.

What do you like best? Sketch is great! It's very simple to learn and makes designing anything from website to apps very simple. It allows me to quickly design and the fact that most other UI designers use it makes sharing files very easy. What do you dislike? The only thing missing for me is a bit more robust prototyping abilities within Sketch. Recommendations to others considering the product: I would recommend trying it out if you are in the UI/UX world. What problems are you ...

Sketch is great for web design in a different way

What do you like best? I love the layout features, Sketch allows me and the client a better idea of how their web project will end while having beautiful high res but low size web graphics What do you dislike? I dislike being able to successfully design vector graphics, I actually have to make vector graphics in illustrator and paste into artboards to save time Recommendations to others considering the product: Help me make vector graphics! I would like to have to use this program, ...

Sketch is great for UX design, but not perfect

What do you like best? What I love most about Sketch is the ability to create "Symbols" and reuse them throughout multi-artboard documents. I have always had issues with linked files in Photoshop. Other fantastic features are the ability to grab CSS directly from Sketch. This software is also really affordable compared to Photoshop. What do you dislike? There are some quirks with Sketch that I find to be frustrating. Bringing in vector objects is a challenge. It separates the objects ...

Sketch is easy to use

What do you like best? It's vector based and very similar to Adobe Illustrator What do you dislike? As someone who is used to Adobe Illustrator, Sketch is lacking some of the basic functions that made Illustrator indispensable in the design world. I will always choose that over Sketch. Recommendations to others considering the product: Worth it for wireframing, but other softwares do it better. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? ...
