Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Modern design tool for digital products

What do you like best? Sketch understands the needs of modern wireframing, application UX workflow, digital graphics production, and mockups. Pages, artboards, and typographic style sheets make work straightforward. The new symbols and symbol libraries keep work efficient. What do you dislike? Sometimes, getting object to sit where you want them too — as opposed to snapping to the wrong alignment — can be a chore. Handling image masks is a pain, too. New features tend to ...

Lightweight and easy to use

What do you like best? I like that it works quickly on my Macbook Air, and there is very little lag when I'm working with many art boards. What do you dislike? I dislike that sometimes the app behaves in a ways that I did not intend, and sometimes it feels counterintuitive. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Sketch allows me to fail quickly with designs, create low to high fidelity mockups with ease.

Finally a reason to ditch Adobe

What do you like best? Sketch was built for UI/UX first. It's not a generic design tool. They are constantly improving and building new features with user experience design in mind first. The amount of integrations and plugins make the tool easily translatable to clients and 3rd party systems. What do you dislike? Can be crashy at times but they do update the app often to fix this. Being mac only it makes it hard to share files with clients who are windows users. Recommendations to ...

Built With App Designers and Front End Devs in Mind

What do you like best? As a designer who cut their teeth on much more bloated, complicated applications, using Sketch has been a relief. This software is geared toward designing for screens and prototyping, and doesn't overwhelm you with loads of specialized features for other purposes. Plus, Sketch is so customizable! If you're lacking a feature, there's a good chance that you can find a plugin to fulfill your needs. What do you dislike? My one wish is that Sketch came with a default ...

Fantastic alternative to Photoshop for Digital Designers

What do you like best? I love the hybrid of illustrator and photoshop that Sketch presents. It's very easy to use and has some excellent layout tools which really makes getting that pixel perfect design easy to achieve. What do you dislike? Occasionally when you have a lot of artboards in one file, the program can struggle...however breaking them up into different pages tends to sort that out. Recommendations to others considering the product: Don't hesitate to try it, it's well ...
