Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Great for UX/UI Work

What do you like best? Very solid application with frequent updates. Shared symbols for creating and managing design systems with lots of plugins and integrations with Invision make this app a very powerful tool What do you dislike? No longer a one time fee, moved to subscription based payments, with newer files not being compatible with older versions Recommendations to others considering the product: Also look into invision studio, which might be giving Sketch a run for it's money ...

Excellent replacement for Photoshop in a Web Designers workflow

What do you like best? The best thing about Sketch - as somebody who came from Photoshop - is how fast it is to load! I can open Sketch and Photoshop at the same time and Sketch will be ready a full minute before Photoshop. It also consumes 1/4 of the system resources as PS. What do you dislike? The process of finding and installing plugins for Sketch is pretty convoluted. And I really wish there was a built in ruler tool, though Sketch has other methods to find widths and distances. ...

Sketch is amazing

What do you like best? The ease of use and intuitive interface is what makes this tool amazing. It takes away the complexity of Adobe tools but has a lot of the same benefits. Also, the amount of plugins available with this tool is AMAZING. Seriously, this has changed my life when designing new interactions. What do you dislike? Sometimes the plugins do not keep up with the Sketch updates. this causes issues when I am up against a deadline and all of the sudden I have to spend an hour ...

Excellent tool for app design

What do you like best? It's easy to use and allows easy duplication and exporting of artboards. Great for designing app pages. What do you dislike? Some things don't have enough flexibility such as angles of shadows and gradients. Recommendations to others considering the product: Sketch is great for most design work and an easier, more affordable alternative to Adobe Illustrator. However, if you need to create large graphics (banners, wall graphics then Sketch is not the right ...

Just what you need

What do you like best? Sketch is a light, user friendly, versatile and powerful tool for UI design. Even though, it is build with just a basic set of features (enough for most of the tasks that an average UI designer will need but the possibilities to customize it with plugins is endless so it adapts perfectly to each user and their specific needs. What do you dislike? It would be the perfect tool if it would include prototyping and basic animation capabilities. Recommendations to ...

Best UI Design Software

What do you like best? Ease of Use, quick learning curve, flexibility. It has helped me produce mockups, wireframes and diagrams a lot quicker than I would have with one or more of Adobe CC's apps. What do you dislike? Guides seem a bit clunky. Not being able to use hotkeys to show or not show guides. Other than that, I would like to see better compatibility with Illustrator files and ways to manage layers. Recommendations to others considering the product: The idea of learning ...

The best software to build a UI

What do you like best? I like the third party plugins, this expand the software capabilities. What do you dislike? Like the Adobe XD, the Sketch could by default build prototypes. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? The production of UI with Sketch, was much faster compared to my previous software, Adobe Illustrator.

Sleek and user friendly

What do you like best? Interacts well with other programs -- invision etc What do you dislike? The grouping aspect, I want to select directly on an element Recommendations to others considering the product: Google your question -- most people have already asked them. Utilize the symbols, those are amazing. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? More efficient web design and better orginzation

Easy to use, even for a dev

What do you like best? I'm primarily a developer and sketch's features are incredibly intuitive. Beyond that there's an incredible community. What do you dislike? There is a bit of a learning curve, and since Sketch is so open and free it's hard to tell what the best practices are. Recommendations to others considering the product: Absolutely try it out, there's a reason it's so common in the industry. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? ...

designer review of sketch

What do you like best? I love the ability to customize and streamline your workflow with the endless amount of plugins What do you dislike? The limitations with typography. This may be intentional but the former graphic designer in me wants the type freedom of Illustrator. Recommendations to others considering the product: Try to find the right configuration of plugins that help evolve and streamline your workflow. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have ...
