Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Sketch's price is affordable, it is easy to use and it provides great options for designing UIs

PROS & CONS What are the best aspects of this product? I’m not former Adobe user, so I started with Sketch and I have to say that I simply love this tool. It took me few hours to be up and running but the possibilities are great when it comes to UI design for both web and app. I like the combination with various plugins like Zeplin, assets export and usage of symbols. The price is fair. What aspects are problematic or could work better? When it comes to choosing the layers and editing ...

Sketch

What do you like best? Sketch is relatively easy to use straight off the shelf, packed with many elements and designs ready to use. What do you dislike? Sketch will not open many other program saved documents. Recommendations to others considering the product: Sketch offers a free trial, which would be best to download before buying as it is not the only application/program of this type. Sketch does have many features others do not but ease of use and features should be considered ...

Powerful tool for web design

What do you like best? Sketch is a great affordable tool for designing anything web related. It is my standard goto for any web design I need to do. What do you dislike? I haven't found anything yet that I don't like. I still need to dive deeper into some of the features it offers to fully experience Sketch. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Sketch has allowed me to design faster and cleaner sites. The fact that it is designed ...

All you can want in one download

What do you like best? Sketch Plugins. These are what bring designers even more opportunities within Sketch. Plugins allow for Sketch to have a much better workflow and integrate more tools that they usually design with. From my personal experience, Plugins are the leg up for Sketch. What do you dislike? The number of bugs that are apart of new releases of the app. While Sketch has a decently sized team, there will always be things that slip past. The pro to this is when I contacted ...

Great for vector based design

What do you like best? The ability to organize and export as a structured SVG file, one that can be edited again quickly and easily. Great price point at $99 too, especially compared to Adobe software. What do you dislike? Not many ways to optimize and save an SVG for the web. Recommendations to others considering the product: Take the time to learn the software, it’s worth it. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Animated SVG ...

Overall, fantastic

What do you like best? Love the ability to zoom in and ou - see artboards in detail but also see the big picture. Frequent product updates. What do you dislike? I think the performance of the app could be better at times. Collaborating/versioning could be more powerful. Recommendations to others considering the product: Sketch is best for diagrams and UI. Photoshop is better for detailed visual work, photographic manipulation, VFX, etc. What problems are you solving with the ...

Our favorite tool to mock up website changes, landing pages and microsites

What do you like best? It is preloaded with many great tools, fonts and design elements to easily 'whiteboard' a mock up and provide detailed updates to our web developers. What do you dislike? The UX isn't that great, and it is a bit glitchy when it comes to making changes within previous designs. For example, 'double clicking' on an object sometimes highlights that object, but sometimes it highlights the whole page and it takes multiple tries to select an object to edit or remove. ...

Buggy but very useful

What do you like best? It combines facets of photoshop, illustrator, and prototyping, and works directly with Invision What do you dislike? It sometimes renames conventions (save as? you just duplicate and rename, in a way taht seems unnecessary, and just being different to be different, so it makes it harder to adjust to. Recommendations to others considering the product: It's buggy, but depending on your workflow, you might find it easier and faster than other methods. What ...

The new standard for UI design

What do you like best? Sketch has been my go-to user interface tool for the last 4 years for so many reasons. It's fast and lightweight, it's intuitive, it had artboards before Photoshop caught up, it has the best asset export tools, its new auto layout tools are incredibly powerful, symbols are the best, and the endless possibilities of 3rd party plugins make it the only real option for designing apps and websites. What do you dislike? • I still prefer to create vector artwork (icons, ...
