Do not trust Scribd!!

Do not trust Scribd!!! I got a subscription during dental school. Once I graduated I decided to end my subscription and found that they had been triple charging me for the past 18 months. Apparently, they claimed my alternate email addresses were used to log in. I never authorized any payment under these emails and no notice was ever given to me. When I brought this up to their customer service department they refused to reimburse me the $500 they owed me. They literally stole money and ...

0 customer support

I would not be saying Scribd is a scam. Actually, I was a loyal paying customer for many years. But this time my card has expired and the system just doesn't accept any of the new payment methods (and I've tried many!). Okay, there could be technical issues, but there also should be customer support. Which I wasn't able to hear from. My ticket number #3433392

Time to call Time

Been a subscriber for years. The fact I've had to request invoices is bad enough, but now they don't even respond to those. So, bye-bye. Request #3375011

Unrecognized charges/I did not sign up for this

Something is not right here and the number of similar style complaints is a red flag. I just found out tonight that I have been charged $90 total since October 2020 for a subscription to Scribd through the app store that I do not recall purchasing. I am pretty savvy when it comes to spotting dark patterns so I'm confident that either A.) I did not intentionally purchase the subscription and it was extremely well hidden via dark patterns or B.) I cancelled before the trial period ended and ...

Charged for free trial

Signed up for a free trial to look at one specific book. Cancelled immediately afterward. Got charged a month later anyway. PayPal wouldn't refund because of lack of documentation of cancellation. Scribd is a scam. Avoid. EDIT: Scribd replied with some boilerplate below. I'm emailing them for my money back. Update to follow... EDIT AGAIN: as expected, no help from Scribd support. Full email copied below, but gist is no refund and blame PayPal. You fuckwits talk a good game here doing ...

SCAM be aware of the FAKE free trial period

They offer you a free trial period and it doesn't matter if you cancel before the free period expires as they will charge you anyway. Then you cannot delete your bank account (as they force you to enter a new one) or delete the account as the option doesn't really exist although on the FAQ they explain to you how to delete your account. IF after this you still want to give it a go, USE a CREDIT CARD and then dispute the charge with your bank. Don't forget to take a screen print as soon as ...

Request # 3: Fraudulent Deduction

You're still asking me to load a ticket number???? While you fully aware that your system is engineered to deftly redirect customers trying to raise a support ticket - the moment anything regarding a refund is typed. You're content with scamming people?Refund the money you deducted after I had cancelled.

Cynical, deceitful subscription cancellation process

Scribd use deceitful "dark patterns" on their website to give you the impression you have cancelled your subscription while they in fact continue to bill you. I would encourage you to never use their service, but if you do, please be attentive when going through the (long, multi-stage!) cancellation process.

I’d like my refund now plz!

Like everyone else here, I've been scammed by Scribd. I'm ON IT with tracking my free trials and subscription services and set alarms in my calendar so I can avoided cases like this. So when they charge me twice well after I canceled subscription (during my trial period) I started questioning MYSELF. Luckily I had screenshots to prove I canceled before the trial period ended, but doesn't seem to make a difference as they ignore all emails requesting support. So I'm just writing here in a ...

Same as the others - Scribd is a scam!

Same as the others - cancelled the subscription and they keep taking money. Also, when logging in with my email, it doesn't find the account anymore, but the app which was still signed in and has the bank account details has the email listed as "unknown." Support doesn't reply. So they have my cc details linked to no email at all and keep billing me - and because of this there's no way to log in and change it. Total scam.
