Joining Woes...

Just joined with a link giving 60 days free. Entered payment details and it was confirmed on screen that the first payment would be taken March 30th. However, my account status shows cancelled, so I am unable to read/listen. First impressions count and this has been a spectacular failure. Edit : Issue due to a "security alert" (no further detail given) meaning the account could not be re-enabled.

Unethical

I remember cancelling the subscription ages ago. However, money kept getting deducted from my account which was quite frustrating to see. I tried again to unsubscribe from the app but the app doesn't let you. Scribd has deliberately designed and created roadblocks to unsubscribe from their service which is purely an unethical product design. It is the best way to lose trust and customers. I am never going to come back to Scribd after experiencing this.

Extremely disappointing CS support

Extremely disappointing CS support. I never received the code to use NY Times and now I am not able to cancel my subscription - that I cant even use. There is no way to talk to someone and all I ever received was a email that I submitted a ticked, but never a resolution, or even an attempt to resolve my problem. If someone knows how I can cancel this, please let me know.

Considered cancelling Scribd? Make sure you confirm AGAIN at the bottom of the webpage.

If you are considering a "book" platform, I would think twice before considering Scribd. Or differently put, you definitely get what you pay for. In fairness to them - if I READ i probably would not have had this negative experience when trying to cancel my subscription service. Having used AUDIBLE for the longest time there was a pretty high benchmark set. I thought I had cancelled 3 times - but alas I missed the small print at the bottom of the page asking you to just confirm again that ...

Don't give your payment info for free trial! It's a scam

They offer a free trial, but then "trick" you into thinking you've canceled it. The cancelation process is deceptive, you have to click through multiple pages of hidden "are you sure you want to cancel" before the final cancellation is confirmed.

Answer sent on Jan 14 to non working emai please help

I pay for scribd every month but I have not been able to use it for several months. The problem is my old email does not work AND I forgot my password. When I ask for help I get none. Everything I’ve done like send my phone number does not help. I’ve even sent them my new email today. Now they put me on for a 30 day trial but I don’t want that since I’m paying every month

Just keeps billing you after you…

Just keeps billing you after you cancel. I cancelled, I have a confirmation email that I cancelled, and yet they STILL BILLED ME AGAIN ONE MONTH LATER. I didn’t “pause,” I cancelled. I navigated their archaic platform to ensure it was cancelled and yet theySTILL BILLED ME. Totally fraudulent service, should be reported to BBB if not DOJ. How many people have been defrauded who just don’t notice.

DECEPTIVE CANCELLATION PROCESS

They have a purposely incredibly deceptive cancellation page. You have to scroll all the way down. The "Continue Cancellation" is not highlighted and super discreet, and then there is yet another page asking you to confirm. I'm not surprised many people were billed thinking they cancelled. Absolutely pathetic and an excellent reason to avoid. Edit: Stop replying saying cancellation is simple. It doesn't help your case. You have years worth of 1/5 reviews complaining about your ...

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING AND DECEIVING

Let me start off by saying that I normally don't write reviews, but this time I decided to do so because what happened was deceitful.I signed up for their 60-day free trial and decided about a third of the way through that this app was just not for me, so I cancelled it... but apparently I didn't cancel it properly because you have to confirm your cancellation multiple times? I have difficulty understanding why there are many layers to cancelling a free trial or membership renewal. I don't ...
