Plaid pros and cons

  • Reviewers find it easy to integrate, with a straightforward, well-documented API.

  • It connects to a wide range of banks and financial institutions across the US.

  • A secure, seamless way to verify bank accounts and authenticate ACH transactions.

  • It doesn't work with some banks and services, and lacks a status page for smaller banks.

Stay away from Plaid and Wise

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Wise and Plaid.I’m overseas using the Wise app, which out of nowhere decided to disconnect my verified bank account. When I tried to reconnect, I was forced to go through Plaid — a third-party service that first asks for my bank login password and then demands SMS verification. Here’s the problem: like many users abroad, I don’t have access to my original phone network, which means I can’t receive that SMS. The result? I’m completely locked out of my ...

I've repeatedly requested assistance from their customer service representatives to help with connectivity from their software to my bank and no one will return an email or call. Just crickets & ghosting!! Terrible service model!!!

The Gold Standard for FinTech Connections

Plaid made our entire business possible. The API is incredibly well-documented, the connections are reliable, and the secure user experience is exactly what we needed to build trust from day one. An absolutely essential tool for any developer in the FinTech space.

95% Negative reviews !!!!!!

Basically collecting your identity , data, bank details etc . Huge red flag when their site states they " cannot guarantee" the safety of this information. Avoid like the plague. Data collecting/ sharing masquerading as a referencing passport . Dangerously collecting information. Name address what you have in your bank children's names & ages. Need a more stringent regulator

I applied for a job posting they had…

I applied for a job posting they had posted of a technical support engineer. I received an email stating that I was not a strong match. However, when I checked job qualifications/skills needed for job, I checked off all the boxes. Thus, I was confused as I felt as I was most certainly a strong match.I had emailed Plaid twice to reach out for clarification. They never answered my email. I went to their website and tried filling out contact form. Yet, still nothing. For any customer of Plaid, ...

Garbage - developers should requestion their career paths

Garbage, forced to connect my account to plaid while using the wise app and not able to transfer funds while abroad. Apps is shotty and works only when it decides to. Super unreliable would avoid using them or any app that works with them. Unless you want to be abroad unable to access your money and bank account.

Plaid is absolutely awful

Plaid is absolutely awful! I am able to connect however the transaction fails for no apparent reason. Why Uphold uses this failing service is beyond me. I am forced to use a different exchange.

Plaid sucks

Plaid sucks, and I am also not happy with the service that uses Plaid as their service to sync with banks. Plaid almost always doesn't work, and then the service says "hey, the problems you're having are with Plaid, not us. Take it up with Plaid." Rest assured, I won't be using either service. When I try to re-sync my accounts, I get a message that says "Couldn't connect to your institution. If you need to use this app immediately, we recommend trying another institution." Oh that's so ...

Absolute garbage "service."

Absolute garbage "service." I cannot link my bank because my credentials are incorrect when I know with 100% certainty they are. I seek out customer support and am told by the chat bot that they don't do live agents, so if you have a problem they don't care or have any desire to fix it. I don't know who pays them money, but they need to stop, and at this point, if a company uses them it's a red flag for their own unethical business practices because either they know the service is junk and ...

Dangerous and untrustworthy

Most systems that facilitate transactions intentionally separate the act of "connecting" or "linking" a bank account and actually "submitting" or "confirming" a transaction. Plaid is not one of them. The deceptive, untrustworthy, poorly designed piece of crap immediately submitted the transaction after linking the bank without confirming the transaction submission, causing me my first ever overdraft after decades of never ever having an overdraft. If it were well designed, it would have ...
