What do you like best? connection to excel, drilldowns, dynamic calcs What do you dislike? having to execute calc scripts to aggregate some data. product is delivered to us with bugs that are very slowly fixed by oracle. Recommendations to others considering the product: keep on premise up to date, to save our investment in exalytics machines What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? LRP, budgets, capital planning, Investment planning.

Intriguing MD Cube
What do you like best? Simple, elegant, don't need to worry about DBA stuff What do you dislike? Can become huge, maintenance becomes manual (which has allowed people to do awesome stuff though!) What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Quarterly reporting.

Use essbase for Reporting and analytics
What do you like best? the ability to dynamically aggregate and extract reports. Easy and quick load of outlines. Can have multiple alternate hierarchies which makes reporting flexible and easy. Easy to debug in case of load issues. What do you dislike? cannot build extensive FR reports using Essbase. PBCS planning using business rules
What do you like best? I like all fonctionalities related to business rules, member formula and how we can customize flow of data and calculation on the fly What do you dislike? Our users are using only ASO cubes and we rely a lot on DataMaps. In a perfect world ASO and BSO would always be in sync without any actions needed. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We do have one central source of truth with our financial data

Essabse is just the beginning
What do you like best? The general framework of Essbase was easy enough to understand. And then once you get that framework, the world is open to you. What do you dislike? Cube restructures can take a while once the database gets big. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Planning and budget and reporting

My Essbase Survey
What do you like best? It has great modelling capabilities coupled with an impressive number of calculation functions and commands What do you dislike? Shared resources of multiple cubes per application decreases performance, as well as no individual cube logs, but app logs What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Various planning models ranging from (purely) financial to very detailed non-financial. Benefits are with consistancy of results
