Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Loom is the best tool for client updates, capturing processes, and training team members."

What do you like best about Loom? I like how easy it is to transition from filming to sharing. The instant upload to cloud enables such a fast turnaround. Additionally the instant transcript is really helpful in creating our SOPs, Blog Posts, and custom emails. What do you dislike about Loom? I wish the filing system was a bit more robust. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Capturing and documenting our Standard Operating Procedures, communicating with clients and ...

What do you like best about Loom? I love that I'm able to get my ideas recorded, teach my colleagues about new features, share research, provide multi-person shared summaries, and more without having to fight with even one other person's schedule. I love that I can include clips from other people's videos as well - so helpful. What do you dislike about Loom? I wish the video editor was more straightforward/more features available. I'd like the ability to quickly and easily cut out portions ...

"Very useful tool for recording short videos/audio"

What do you like best about Loom? The ease of use is what I like best. The platform brings the options you need, right to you fingertips. It's very helpful to share complicated information when you need to show someone vs telling them with just words. What do you dislike about Loom? There isn't anything I would change about the current platform! What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Making it easier to share recordeing screenshots vs downloading them on my desktop ...

"I tell people about Loom just about as much as I use it"

What do you like best about Loom? How quick it is to communicate complex things async. I love the control you have - audio/no audio, face/no face, adding notations in the video, uploading video. What do you dislike about Loom? I dislike that the feature to auto-copy the loom URL after you've filmed a video went away. Bring it back or add it to settings! What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Async communication, QAing new features, historical records, introducing new ...

"Loom saves me more time than any other tool"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is easy to use, and is a great way to get face time with my clients or people who do work for me, without having to both be on a Zoom or other call at the same time. What do you dislike about Loom? The 'automatically add link to clipboard' feature is unreliable at best. I've gone through troubleshooting with them several times and, while it's a small inconvenience, I got very used to it a while ago and no longer have access to that feature. What ...

"Best Remote Work / Async Browser Extension in the Business"

What do you like best about Loom? Makes working remotely across 26 states much easier. We can easily share context with screen recording. build a training library for new hires, and visually provide steps to recreate a bug for our Technical Support team. Great team at Loom and a growing Slack community of Loom power users. What do you dislike about Loom? Would like to see more Atlassian and Slack commands to allow for video contextual search. This would make it easier for me to share ...

"Great"

What do you like best about Loom? Ease of recording - I have the desktop app so it's quick and simple and ready to go and much better than the chrome extension. I use it to share key info with clients plus I use this to record YT vids and then download them and re-upload. I like the new AI that provides transcripts, titles and chapters too - a nice touch. What do you dislike about Loom? Ocassionally buggy when updates happen. I got stuck for a couple of weeks of not using the desktop app ...

"Many Alternatives to Loom but none like Loom!"

What do you like best about Loom? I have used Loom in the past as a free user and also compared it to other Loom alternatives. The alternatives were cheaper in comparison but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". Loom is alot more feature rich, easy and intuitive UI/UX, they care about community feedback, and the quality of the product is so much more superior than the alternatives out there. My favorite feature about Loom is the simplicity of integrating a Loom video within a ...
