GIMP is a great free product

What do you like best? We are able to do all the editing of photos, creating of artwork that we need to with this free product. It gives us more than enough flexibility to take care of all our design needs and it's free! What do you dislike? There is nothing so far that I have wanted to that I have not been able to accomplish with GIMP. It does take some study to be able to understand and use all the functionality and I'm still learning. Recommendations to others considering the product ...

High power graphics editing with hunt to find tools: GIMP

What do you like best? First, The power of the software to perform complex image manipulation and editing tools. Second, and very close at that, is that it's a free open source software. I have donated to the cause of continuing it's development for that reason. What do you dislike? The tools are not as intuitive as Adobe Photoshop/Elements. The quick keys are not readily helpful as they are in other programs. Also it cannot do Vector work but it does rasters with a great strength. I ...

Gimp is a great Photoshop alternative when your need to keep costs low

What do you like best? It's the closest analog to Adobe Creative Suite's Photoshop, and you can't beat the price. It's great for what it is, and you'll notice some similarities between the two products which is enough information to get you started. What do you dislike? Some of the tools are a little difficult to use and not terribly intuitive. It's not a natural transition to move from Adobe Creative Suite to Gimp. There's a bit of a learning curve. At the time I used this product, ...

An excellent alternative to expensive image manipulator software

What do you like best? I like the features it has out of the box. It fill and excel my expectations. It is very useful to use several layers while working with complex or simple image edition. What do you dislike? It get quite a time to learn how to use it. Sometimes it is not intuitive at all and I end up looking at the web to do the most basic tasks Recommendations to others considering the product You need to be patient and take into account that is not very intuitive. A lot of ...

Nice Freeware Photoshop-Like Product

What do you like best? GIMP is basically Photoshop. It has basically all of the same functionality. What do you dislike? It can't open certain files that were made in Photoshop. Some .build files will open as one layer instead of multiple layers as they were created in Photoshop. Recommendations to others considering the product If you have never used a photo-editing software before there are a few things to learn before you can really get running with this product. However, there are ...

Familiar, powerful program

What do you like best? I've been using GIMP for some years. Personally, I used it for artwork (especially the rendering filters and photo retouching; at work, I use it to prepare assets for my students to use in class. I like that it has keyboard shortcuts for the tasks I use most often, and that I'm able to do a lot with it relatively quickly. In personal use, I find myself using the extension system to install add-ons for animations, etc. What do you dislike? GIMP has a bit of a problem ...

Amazing Possibilities from a Tried and Tested Piece of Freeware.

What do you like best? It is not difficult to assess GIMP when weighing up the relative advantages and disadvantages of a piece of software which , out of 'the box', offers up more than ample potential to make a positive statement in artistic and graphical fields. This is all thanks to what is a more than adequate toolset, certainly for the amateur and the both fastidious and savvy intermediate user. What do you dislike? GIMP lacks Photoshop’s powerful Adjustment Layers. You can make a ...

Free and Reliable

What do you like best? GIMP is very easy to use. I started using it just over a month ago and I've been able to navigate quite freely. What do you dislike? What i don't exactly like about Gimp is how the tool bar is separate from the main tab. Recommendations to others considering the product It is free, easy to use and reliable. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I use GIMP to edit images for my designs. It has helped in ...

GIMP is free so use it if you are on a budget or love Linux

What do you like best? It's Free. Adobe products are 400-800 and now they have a monthly subscription. Gimp is a good alternative if you can't afford adobe. It's different and there is a learning curve but it'll do the job. What do you dislike? To me, it doesn't come close to adobe products. It will do most of the same things but it will take you time to learn how to do it. You can't send people the file types because not many people use gimp. I send psd and ai files to people at work and ...
