My Expereince With GIMPShop
What do you like best? I was looking for in the past a way to edit photos and to make things look professional without the fraction of the cost so I needed something a bit more to look just like the project was done in Photoshop! So what I did I looked online for an open-source alternative to Photoshop and there I came across The GIMP. It is now known as GIMP Shop. As you may not know, GIMP stands for "GNU Image Manipulation Program". It works just like Photoshop and a bit identical, only ...

A Free Alternative to Photoshop
What do you like best? It's free. For those wanting a free alternative to Photoshop, GIMP is the best solution. It allows you to give your users photo-editing and graphic design software without needing to subscribe to the pricey Adobe Creative Cloud. What do you dislike? It doesn't match the features of Photoshop completely, and probably never will. But, that said, it's free and I can't really fault it for that. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have ...

Excellent Product!
What do you like best? Gimp is free! That is definitely the best part. With all the features of a premier photo editing software, Gimp does everything. Without a doubt, the best features are that it's free, but with the same features as other photo-editing software. What do you dislike? What I dislike is that some of the tools are not quite as intuitive as in other editing programs. It can be difficult to find the tools to complete the tasks that are needed because they have unique ...

Gimp is a great tool for basic graphic edits
What do you like best? GIMP is easy to obtain and install, and provides a great support for minimal graphic editing and processing. I have used it for small tasks to avoid delays from our graphic design department. It's a great in-between for photoshop and basic MS paint. What do you dislike? Menus are confusing and a little tricky to navigate. Don't be afraid to google 'how-to' guides for lots of the processes required. What business problems are you solving with the product? What ...

GIMP - Professional Bitmap Editor at a Web Application Price
What do you like best? In recent years we have seen a significant bifurcation in application functionality. The options are typically a lightweight, free web application or a heavy duty professional standalone application that is quite expensive to purchase. Bitmap editors are a tremendous example of this process. If you just need to adjust a digital photo before posting it to Facebook, Autodesk’s Pixlr.com is a great tool. But if you need features beyond those provided by Pixlr, you’re ...

Moderately simple solution for photo editing
What do you like best? I use this solution primarily to edit photos for size and cropping. For those two uses, gimp is super easy and efficient. It was easy to learn the commands and makes for quick edits. A great product, and free to use! What do you dislike? There is so much to this product that I could go to a tutorial or class to learn it in-depth. I have not heard of any such thing, so perhaps more publicity about potential training would be helpful. Recommendations to others ...

Great free tool for image manipulation
What do you like best? It's free and quick. Comparing to photoshop is a lot less powerfull, however 90% of stuff in PS was never used by me. What do you dislike? It works really bad on mac. Quite often breaks. It's not huge issue if you don't work with it all the time, however if you use it professionally it might be the issue. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I am cropping images, removing backgrounds, fixing some small issues ...

Amazing (and free) image editor
What do you like best? It is a very powerful image editing software, with a lot of options, and at an amazing price: FREE. The interface is not too diferent from Adobe Photoshop (at least if you use it in "single-window" mode, so Photoshop users won't feel too lost. It is all about getting used to it. Since it is an open-source application, it has a large community and a lot of available extensions, that can help you do more in less time. What do you dislike? GIMP does not handle ...

More than just a Photoshop alternative—Gimp is a powerful software tool all its own
What do you like best? Like so many, my first foray into the GIMP universe began with a need for a cheap (or free alternative to expensive Adobe software. What I found was so much more! GIMP has many practical tools for digital photo editing and manipulation, but what really stands out to me is the number of tools for other digital disciplines including web graphics and CGI textures. GIMP users have developed a fantastic open source community with a great deal of documentation and ...
