Gimp

What do you like best? I love the ability to create watermark logos for photography and adjust the transparency once I have created the design I want. I also like the fact that the software is free and yet still has many of the features I used to enjoy on Adobe Photoshop. What do you dislike? I do not like how many small windows open up when using Gimp. It seems that there is a steep learning curve to figuring out which windows you want/need and which ones are simply in the way. ...

Good Cheap Graphics Design Software

What do you like best? What I like best is that GIMP can pretty much do anything that the more expensive photo-editing software can do. It allows me to produce high-quality designs without paying an arm and a leg. I used to use it on a computer with Linux because the more expensive products couldn't be used on that operating system. Now, I have a new computer that I can use these products on but have not gone back because I really like Gimp. It serves my needs. What do you dislike? I ...

A good and free image manipulation program

What do you like best? The layering feature used can be utilised to create some rather complex images, using transparent layers you're limited to your imagination in what you can create with GIMP. The export option easily allows users to create images in their desired format. The sheer amount of features available mean you really do anything you want. What do you dislike? The amount of features available also acts as an off-putting factor, as it can be rather hard to use. As a new ...

review of GIMP software

What do you like best? I can create my figures for research papers in extremely high resolution and high quality that's required for submission. What do you dislike? I find it somewhat difficult to operate at times, especially since I don't have a background in graphics or design. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I have used GIMP primarily to create high resolution for figures as part of scientific research papers. This is the best ...

Everything you need in a photo editor - for free

What do you like best? The price. GIMP is open source and free to use, which is perfect for small organizations that can't afford the pricier software. But although it's free, GIMP can do everything that Photoshop or other photo editing software can do. The learning curve is small and the results can be phenomenal. It's also a "lighter" software that takes up less hard drive space and processing power to run. What do you dislike? The only thing that GIMP lacks is an "easy" mode like ...

A staple for any digital artist

What do you like best? This open-source platform is both free and allows for a great variety of applications; animation, illustration, text art, graphic design! What do you dislike? The program can be sluggish, but I only have experience with it in Windows 10, so that might be the current issue. Recommendations to others considering the product If you're unsure of how deep into a certain digital art style you want to go, GIMP is perfect to test out the many avenues. What business ...

Standard Open Source Image Editing Tool

What do you like best? I like that GIMP has a completely different approach than Photoshop. Most people expect it to work like Photoshop, but GIMP hasn't been tailored to that. It's learning curve is different and it's not afraid to have its own way of working. What do you dislike? The user experience is pretty lacking. Also the plug-in environment is quite messy, with some unmaintained plugins and the need for python for some specific plugins. It lacks quite a few options Photoshop has, ...

No Budget for Photoshop? GIMP is the solution!

What do you like best? I love that I can import brushes and other Photoshop elements. The best part of it all, is the cost. Getting this software for free, really "freed" up my budget! Also, being able to find other free brushes to import, is critical to keep costs low. I can also create my own brush set and import - very handy!! What do you dislike? The only thing I didn't like was that I didn't find this sooner! Recommendations to others considering the product Don't miss out just ...
