Gimp Review

What do you like best? Great number of expansive tools for free. Open source is the way to go when you want more employees to have access to tools they need. What do you dislike? Not as may options as Adobe photoshop. Takes some getting used to different menus when coming from other software. Recommendations to others considering the product This does not replace photoshop if you need it for specific tools. For simple photo and image edits this is great but I would not use it for final ...

Fun and Functional

What do you like best? I have always loved the functionality of Gimp...and especially love the price tag(or the lack thereof. Having used Photoshop before I stumbled upon Gimp when my license expired. It took some getting used too but soon realized that you can do just about anything on Gimp and even the layout was really similar to Photoshop What do you dislike? The hotkeys are different from Photoshop and this might be somewhat annoying if you are used to Photoshop also worth noting is ...

lifesaver tool, easy to use and free

What do you like best? easy image edition, your imagination is the limit, great edition tools. opensource and free, easy to use UI, compatible with most image formats and PDF! used in Linux and Windows What do you dislike? I had some complications installing in a 32 bit laptop, need to use a previous version. otherwise I had no other problems using it. Recommendations to others considering the product this is a free open source and very useful tool, I am very pleased using it for ...

Downloadable Software for Image editing and creation.

What do you like best? I like that it is a relatively easy software to use. It isn't as complex as Adobe Photoshop, and will obviously be limited in some ways, but most things can be figured out using google. What do you dislike? There is no circular drawing tool. There is a long process of having to create a circular selection, then go in and create a pathway, and then choose to draw a line on that pathway. Good old Windows PAINT program has rectangular and circular drawing tools. Gimp ...

GIMP - Thank Goodness It's Free

What do you like best? The best thing about GIMP is it's free. It is a powerful tool with a clunky interface. What do you dislike? The worst thing about GIMP is the user interface. It has its roots in Linux and has that generic, gray, clunky look to it. It's not obvious how to do some of the simplest tasks. Recommendations to others considering the product If you need a free tool similar to Photoshop, this is it. It's free and gets the job done. A great feature is it is supported on ...

Photoshop for a lot less

What do you like best? I can do most everything my counterparts can do in Photoshop but it doesn't cost me anything. What do you dislike? Support isn't the greatest, but I can usually find a blog or YouTube video that shows what I need. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Editing images for websites. It gets the job done and no software costs.

Decent substitute for Photoshop

What do you like best? Handles all the file types I'm used to working with. What do you dislike? As a long-time Photoshop user, it will take some time getting used to the tools that work differently in GIMP. Recommendations to others considering the product If you're coming from Photoshop, set up your GIMP shortcuts to match those Photoshop's asap or you'll drive yourself crazy. Also, there is a plug-in which allows you to add effects to layers that you should definitely install. What ...

Gimp is not PhotoShop

What do you like best? I like that Gimp is free, and that it is relatively close in user interface to PhotoShop What do you dislike? For those used to PS, Gimp just doesn't have the same capabilities. Also, I don't like that it is desktop-based and have to download it to a computer. It doesn't work for those with netbooks or Chromebooks. Recommendations to others considering the product Photoshop has many more capabilities, but GIMP is a decent free tool. What business problems are you ...

It's The Love Letter I Leave My Small Business Clients

What do you like best? To be honest, the price. It is by and far my favorite free graphics program out there. You can't beat it. What do you dislike? As I am ultimately a designer and grew up on the Adobe Suite, there are things that bother me about GIMP that wouldn't bother most normal users. Whenever I use it, I miss the layer flexibility that Photoshop offers. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Many small businesses that I work ...

GIMP

What do you like best? I use GIMP in my computer programming classes. It is easy to learn with a great online community. Any question I have ever had, I've been able to get answered quickly. I'm not a high end user, but every tool I've ever needed has been there. The layering is good and very easy to use. I teach students how to prepare an image for use in computer programs. We are scaling, cropping, changing colors and manipulating images. The filters are great. I love the slice ...
