GIMP is an amazing image editor
What do you like best? I enjoy the wide variety of tools and functions that GIMP provides for accomplishing almost any task - whether I simply want to crop a selection of a circuit diagram or whether you want to compile many image layers to do a 2D animation of data flow in a network. What do you dislike? Learning where to find all the tools I needed took a while at first - but this is understandable with an application that is so feature-rich. Recommendations to others considering the ...

Gimp is the open source free alternative to Photoshop
What do you like best? Gimp is lightweight, free, multi-OS, and gives you all of the basic tools that people normally use in Photoshop. What do you dislike? The UI and UX are very confusing at first and take some time to get use to which can be intimidating. Great alternative to PS
What do you like best? It's free, open source and a great alternative to Adobe Photoshop. Honestly, it's probably the best free alternative to Photoshop. When times are tough and money is an issue, it's great to have a program that includes many of Photoshop's features. GIMP has a huge array of professional tools for users to pick up and create with! The interface is very customizable and just recently I learned how to use it with Python (thank you, programmer hubbie! What do you dislike? ...

Very Capable Software, Awkward Learning Curve
What do you like best? The more I use Gimp, the more features I notice. I started with minimal photo editing experience but have taught myself through using this program. What do you dislike? The interface is just not straight-forward enough for beginner users. The program will often seem unresponsive when in fact the wrong area, menu, setting, or layer is selected. Recommendations to others considering the product You may feel like you need to buy professional photo-editing software ...

Fully featured image editing in a pinch
What do you like best? First off, it's free. Second off, there is a Portable Apps version of GIMP, so you can carry it on a flash drive for portability. I have both the full version on my laptop, but carry a portable version on a flash drive since my office workstation requires admin rights to install the full version. This is quite useful when either one- My Fireworks install has been temporarily borked and I need to do some quick image editing for images to be used on Musiqtone. And ...

GIMP is so much fun, so awesome, creative and entertaining
What do you like best? I use Photoshop and GIMP because I get something out of each. Since there is a different work flow it forces me to think differently and constantly come up with new ideas and see what new things I can learn between them. GIMP has an amazing community and crew of developers and I would say everyone needs to try it! What do you dislike? Just the learning curve but that's not their fault. I love everything the program does! What business problems are you solving with ...

A great alternative for learning digital artists
What do you like best? I really enjoy the fact that you can basically use a painting program similar to Photoshop but without the subscription. For those entering the digital painting field it's a wonderful program to use. It's also structured similarly to photoshop, so if you decide to make the transition you'll have the basics down once you enter the Adobe realm What do you dislike? Honestly it's a bit glitchy depending on if you're using a PC versus a Mac, and I had so many issues ...
