Great alternative to Photoshop

What do you like best? Gimp has an interface that is similar to Photoshop, and provides many of the same tools. It's a good choice for anyone who wants a lot of Photoshop capabilities without paying for it. What do you dislike? It doesn't integrate with photoshop well at all. The editable function of PSDs isn't preserved that well when opened in Gimp. Worst of all is that all text is rasterized when opened in Gimp. That means that all text has to be re-created in Gimp, which takes a lot ...

Incredible Tool for Free

What do you like best? I love that it's free and meets most of my needs. Also, that it's available for Linux. What do you dislike? Saving your project and exporting as an image file have separate options, which takes some getting used to. Does not automatically create a new layer when you paste. You have to remember to first create the layer. Recommendations to others considering the product It's free open source software, so support is by the community, not a dedicated support team. ...

Powerful alternative to the "Big Guys

What do you like best? Of course I love the price, but that's just the cherry on top. The best thing about Gimp is the powerful feature set without the huge install footprint. What do you dislike? Starting off, there's a bit of a learning curve, especially if you're familiar with PhotoShop. Recommendations to others considering the product If you're looking for a cost-effective, yet powerful, alternative to "other" graphics software, Gimp is for you! What business problems are you ...

Superb free alternative to Adobe Photoshop

What do you like best? Quick and lightweight. It's always improving. But if you're switching from Photoshop, you won't be totally lost. What do you dislike? Text capability is iffy, the Text menu isn't even an option. Recommendations to others considering the product Download it, play around with it, see if it's for you or not. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Sometimes we need to do emergency editing on another user's computer, ...

Free?!

What do you like best? Amazing features for a free product. Almost all the functionality of Photoshop! What do you dislike? A little hard to figure out how to do things - there are a good handful of tutorials out there, but no where near as many as Photoshop/Lightroom has. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I am not using Gimp anymore, but in a budget pinch could definitely get the basics done if needed.
