Best free open source photo editing software

What do you like best? Gimp is fairly powerful for a free piece of software and I can effectively use it for all my production work as long as I'm not sharing native files with someone else. What do you dislike? Plug-ins are often needed to perform standard operations like editing Raw photos. Recommendations to others considering the product This is open source software, so developed by a community of programmers. Since it's free, there is less functionality than an industry standard ...

GIMP: A poor man's PhotoShop

What do you like best? GIMP has a great toolset for photo editing as a 100% free piece of software. What do you dislike? It's UI is pretty old-school and it is lacking in features compared to its pay-to-play competitors. Recommendations to others considering the product So many people on forums and YouTube offer great advice for people that are just starting with the software. Take advantage of all the free information! What business problems are you solving with the product? What ...

Free and Powerful Editing Program

What do you like best? Gimp is free. It doesn't have the power of a program like photoshop, but it is simpler to use, has many powerful tools and plugins, and is a bit more user friendly. For simpler photo tasks, I go to Gimp before Photoshop. What do you dislike? Gimp's biggest liabilities include a lack of file type and export abilities. For example, there is no CMYK support. Recommendations to others considering the product Try Gimp. Use some of the built in filters. There is ...

GIMP Review

What do you like best? I like the ability to export ICO files with multiple sizes. Adobe products do not give me that ability. What do you dislike? I dislike how heavy the UI is. I do most of my design work in the Adobe Creative Suite and feel those products are generally easier to use. Recommendations to others considering the product GIMP is the most inexpensive tool, and it will get the job done if you don't have access to Adobe products. It just might take a little longer to figure ...

Pretty easy to use

What do you like best? I like that GIMP is a free version of Photoshop, and it's just as easy to use. Sure, it may not have all the bits and bobs that Photoshop does, but it does pretty much the same exact things. I enjoy using GIMP to make little promo teasers for my book, or cover photos for Facebook. Stuff like that. What do you dislike? It isn't quite as fancy as Photoshop, and sometimes it's a little more difficult to find tutorials for doing things in GIMP, but those are just my ...

A Graphic Design Software better than most, but still missing features

What do you like best? GIMP is a great graphic design software, because it lets you manipulate the image using many of the same features found in Photoshop. You can create layers, edit and create shapes, cute images intelligently to then overlay over layers, angle and change perspectives of images, use countless paint brushes and shapes, paint exact colors and more. And for people new to the software, there are endless tutorials to teach you how to use the software. Both the program and ...

good software to photo editing.

What do you like best? I like that it is a relatively easy software to use. It isn't as complex as Adobe Photoshop, and will obviously be limited in some ways, but most things can be figured out using google. Learning how to use it is easier than Learning other softwares. The look is simple and intuitive. Also they provide you regular updates, with fixes and new features. What do you dislike? I would like for Gimp to have an option for me to turn my art into a vector... Currently I do ...
