Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

  • Lacks robust customization options for advanced users, particularly in file storage and integrations, which can limit flexibility.

  • Minimalist feature set may lack advanced capabilities like complex reporting or kanban customization that power users might expect.

Best of all the task hubs out there!

What do you like best? The interface of Basecamp is the best of all the task hubs I have used. It is easy to add team members & assign tasks in order to keep everything in once place. What do you dislike? When you "complete" a task sometimes it disappears & it is hard to find if you need it in the future. Recommendations to others considering the product Basecamp is a great site that I used at my previous job. In my current position, I tried to get the company to use Basecamp as ...

Collaborative Communication Tool

What do you like best? Easy to use! Allows you to easily post work to share with clients to collaborate on. What do you dislike? There isn't anything that comes to mind that we disliked about the software. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? The ability to collaborate with clients in a timely manner. Keeps an audit trail of changes and you easily go back in the threads to see where decisions were made. Communications no longer ...

Easy to use, user friendly

What do you like best? It's very visual and easy to use. Easy to communicate with people through it What do you dislike? I use Basecamp to communicate with people from all over the country. We use it to ask questions to the larger group, post trainings, post a calendar, etc. Sometimes people respond incorrectly to the mass emails that get sent out. I'm not sure how this happens, but sometimes we will send out a mass email and someone will somehow accidentally respond to everyone ...

Good project organization platforms for widespread teams

What do you like best? Being able to host different conversation threads that would populate with notifications when a member would comment. Plus the notifications when something was due/the list-like method. What do you dislike? Sometimes the different threads you'd have to juggle through could be confusing. Recommendations to others considering the product Keep everything organized and take advantage of the checklists plus notifications to get your projects done. What business ...

Useful tool, but lots of options out there

What do you like best? I like the to-do lists that you can assign to other users. The emails that come along with them are helpful, too. What do you dislike? The file sharing/repository needs some work. It's hard to find things. They all go into one big pile. Tags help, but they're not easy to see or sort at a glance. It's also frustrating that Basecamp 2 and Basecamp 3 don't better integrate. Recommendations to others considering the product It doesn't have gant charts like some ...

Another program that makes work redundant/repetative

What do you like best? I like that files can be uploaded to one spot - good for collaborating with third party vendors What do you dislike? I just feel like it's so repetitive and sometimes unnecessary. Certain things could be just done through email. Recommendations to others considering the product It's a great way to collaborate on projects, especially when you aren't all "in-house" -- working for different companies and sharing files is very easy on Basecamp. What business ...

It's ok

What do you like best? It's an easy place to share files and information among specific groups and coworkers. What do you dislike? It's not the easiest site to navigate or find things in when searching for something specific. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? It's a good place to keep track of group projects.

Great program

What do you like best? Being able to keep track of different tasks between my team and know what has gotten done and what hasn't. Knowing I'm always on the same page as the people around me, and am always in communication with them. What do you dislike? Anytime there is a change made I get an email, which gets tedious to go through. But it makes sense to email updated changes so it's not a problem. Recommendations to others considering the product It is a great resource especially ...

New User to BaseCamp

What do you like best? Seems to be a reasonably user friendly product -- I'm a new user, and it appears to suite my needs. What do you dislike? There is a lot of clicking around in order to get to where you need to be. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? It's a collection software for a conference I am co-chairing in the spring, and helps collect all of our documents in one place.
