Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

  • Lacks robust customization options for advanced users, particularly in file storage and integrations, which can limit flexibility.

A cool tool that effectively manages teams while drastically minimizing e-mail!

PROS & CONS What are the best aspects of this product? I simply love how Basecamp would simply come in and resolve unlimited e-mail threads where information can easily get lost in the process. I currently make use of it to handle a team of freelancers for different design projects. You can easily retain projects in a single thread, do image and document uploads, and expedite execution and approval processes. What aspects are problematic or could work better? There's reall nothing ...

Public embarrassment gets work done

What do you like best? I like that this lets you make lists with timelines and who must do it by when. The lists can be public or private. They also send updates to everyone. If you assign someone a task and they do not complete it- everyone can see it. What do you dislike? It was a bit difficult to use at first and the sets of lists were confusing. If someone is not a type A list person, they may see this as an annoying obstacle instead of a helpful organizational tool. ...

Easy to use and insightful

What do you like best? project divisions and the ability to work with other employees on projects. What do you dislike? Didn't have access to everyone's contact information in the company. Not sure if this was our oversight or a missing feature. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? submitting timesheets, reimbursement forms, project management

Microsoft OneDrive for Business review

What do you like best? So many options, I almost don't need any other program to do what I need to do for work. What do you dislike? Bloated and not the most user-friendly program. It's easy to get confused. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Mostly use for email. But it's so well-rounded, I feel as if Microsoft OneDrive can render all other programs obsolete as a result. It literally has everything you need for your business ...

It's like we're in the same room!

What do you like best? BaseCamp has allowed our team to work together efficiently without needing to complicate schedules with meetings. That has gained us each several hours each week and has moved our organization forward significantly. This interface has also allowed us to work effectively with volunteers by keeping all information in one location. This is the best money we spend each month. What do you dislike? I wish that I could separate paragraphs when posting from a phone ...

Basecamp for all

What do you like best? I like that it has everything on one page. You can just take a glance at the headlines and then you know where you need to go. What do you dislike? I think the headlines could stand out a little more. I don't like that (and this is probably easily fixed if someone on a project adds you in then suddenly you get a 100 emails every time someone does anything. Recommendations to others considering the product Expect your inbox to fill up What business problems ...

Good for collaboration

What do you like best? Being able to assign to-do's is great, as well as having a single location to store and share project items. The reports, recent activity, and pings are very useful. What do you dislike? The schedule / calendar view feature was removed in Basecamp 3, which reduced the visibility of project tasks. The ability for any project member to be able to delete or archive a project can be problematic. We still need another project management tool, to manage more ...

Excellent Project Management Tool

What do you like best? I love Basecamp over other tools like slack. Everything is stored in one place and easy to see from the dashboard. It's easy to add collaborators and keep projects limited to only those engaged with a project. Using this with an agency background it's nice to see everything sorted by client. The timelines and to-dos are fantastic for tracking. What do you dislike? Basecamp stores documents in chronological order, I wish we could choose the organization here. Some ...

This is a great tool for collaborating with a team on specific projects

What do you like best? It's a great way to get everyone on your team in one spot so that you can keep a project on track. It's very easy to upload documents, share comments/notes, and keep a calendar so everyone stays on schedule. I also enjoy how easy it is to use. In the past, I was an account manager who setup projects for each individual account. When we did so, we would have to train our new clients on how to use it, which was never very hard because of how simple it is to use. What ...
