Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

Decent Project Management Tool

What do you like best? I like how Basecamp is easy to get started on. You don't need any sort of orientation on how to use, though it is available. It is easy to navigate around. I think the biggest plus to Basecamp is the ability to easily share large project files. PDFs, JPGs, zip files, you name it. I have yet to encounter a file too large to share. Plus it's free so how can that be bad?! What do you dislike? Sometimes we have trouble locating conversations. I also have preview ...

Basecamp Review

What do you like best? Easy to use interface. Categorized dashboard for easy, organizational view. What do you dislike? The format of the daily recap e-mails are not easy to read. Recommendations to others considering the product Good basic project management system at an affordable price. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Communicating projects between Marketing department and outside marketing firm.

Decent product

What do you like best? Helps me see what's on my plate and what's also on my team's. Gives me email notifications for completion dates. What do you dislike? It doesn't necessarily help me keep track because it becomes just another email. A meeting notice type reminder would be nice. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Organizing the whole team and all its tasks

Good for Collaboration if People Use It

What do you like best? Lots of tools that simplify project collaboration and are easy to use. I especially like the shared to-do lists, ability to select which members of a project receive notifications, and ability to use single sign-on with G Suite. What do you dislike? People need to buy in to see the value. Only interacting with the product via email doesn’t work well. Also when they release new versions of the product they are separate from old versions. If you are working on ...

It is useful, but not always intuitive

What do you like best? I like that it keeps files and conversations organized. I also really appreciate that the interface allows clients to view (or not view certain components of a job. What do you dislike? It is reaaaaally easy to get lost in the communication funnel...discussions get pushed to the bottom or people reply all to a certain thread that didn't need everyone on it. It gets overwhelming. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you ...

Basecamp @ GMiS

What do you like best? The ability to quickly deploy across all platforms. There is also a very short learning curve to learn how to use the software. What do you dislike? It currently does not have a Gantt chart capability. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We currently use it as our primary project management tool. It is great for keeping both staff and customers on the same page when it comes to status.

A Project Manager's Dream

What do you like best? I love how easy it is to create projects, to-dos, and templates. What do you dislike? Basecamp gives a lot of notifications that make it harder for some employees to determine what is a priority on their plate. Recommendations to others considering the product If you're looking to use Basecamp make sure that you consider all the benefits it offers. We are using other programs with BC because we didn't look at the chat feature before looking for another tool. ...

Handles large size design files for collaboration

What do you like best? I can easily tell what the latest revisions are since the prior round of updates. Handles extremely large file sizes well. We use it for large size high resolution banner art. What do you dislike? Not as many graphic artists seem to be familiar with it at first. We had to have a freelancer obtain it to work with our company, but it was intuitive enough that someone who is eager and 'game' to use it will be successful without having to be trained. If they are a ...

Great for event managment

What do you like best? Although a lot of people use this to track projects, it’s also superb for event management. This works cross-functionally, especially with team members working remote. What do you dislike? I don’t like how we can’t copy/paste a section of “to-do’s” within an already existing project. Ie: if I start a template with one section of to-do lists, I can’t copy and paste that below the section. I also wish I could export an entire project afterwards (into Word, PDF, ...
