Leaves something to be desired

While the customer service is excellent, the product is not intuitive, is lacking a quality search function and lacking integration with other technologies (Overdrive, databases, etc.). There is a lot of manual inputting.

My point of view

Most of the time, Alexandria is ok. Sometimes I think there is a lot of clicking here, then there to get the information needed. It's hard to see who had a book out last when it was already checked in, and then I found some damage, and want to see who had it last. the list shows from the first checkout, and I can't see who was last.

Great database! Great customer help!

Someone is always there on the phone to help me! Can't say enough about how much I love this database program to help run my library.

I find it more difficult to use.

The software has changed and the things I would be able to accomplish easily with the previous software take me so much longer to figure out now.

Not user friendly

As a new librarian, it's hard to figure out things besides check in and check out.

I think the system works great

Coming into the Library new last year this system was a little overwhelming but with a little bit of training from the last person in here and also a little help from others who work in school library's I got the basics down. Now since I have been in here for a year I am looking to dive into the system a little more and learn more specific features of what it can do to make my job easier. This is not as easy as it sounds. There is guide for the system but to be honest when I have a question ...

Should be web-based

It is limiting to only have access to Alexandria as downloaded software, especially as a Chromebook user. Additionally, the lack of intuity with the names of commands makes it difficult for non-librarian trained staff to use the program to the fullest.

Alexandria

The system is capable of a lot. Unfortunately, I haven't used its full potential because the manual hasn't been helpful in teaching me how to use the system's features. When I purchased the Alex system, my school did not send me across the country to a training session, or pay to have someone come here to show me how to use it, so I've had to learn the system on my own. I wish I knew how to use all the features, and I try to utilize the manual, but most often I can't find the section that I ...

Relatively easy and works well

I inherited my library system, and have upgraded some of the features to make it better suited to my students' needs. Overall, I think it is very easy to use, once you learn it. Some of the features (i.e. reports, utilities, etc) require no learning curve, while others you need to think like a programmer to get it do do what you want. I like the web interface availability, though some features are only available through a data station and not through the interface. There are some things I ...

Tech Support is Great

The tech support office is great but as a new librarian, the site is a little difficult to navigate on my own. A hard copy manual would be useful to have. It would be very nice to have some tech support in the field where someone could actually sit down and explain the program without doing it over the phone.
