What is SSL/TLS Inspection?
What does 'SSL/TLS Inspection' mean?
The practice of decrypting encrypted web traffic so it can be examined for attacks, then re-encrypting it before forwarding it on. Because most traffic now travels over HTTPS, a firewall that cannot see inside the encrypted session cannot detect malicious payloads hidden there. Inspection requires the device to hold certificates and terminate the connection, so configuration and privacy exclusions are an important part of the setup.
