What is Risk Scoring?

What does 'Risk Scoring' mean?

Risk scoring returns a likelihood rather than a finding: how likely a lung nodule is malignant, how likely a patient has obstructive disease, or how likely a lesion warrants referral. A score changes a decision about what to do next, which is why the labelling and the validation population matter more here than anywhere else. Check the stated indications, the ages and populations the score was validated on, and whether the vendor is explicit that the score supports rather than replaces the clinician's judgment.
