What does 'QR Code Payments' mean?
A payment is initiated by scanning a QR code with a phone, either a code the merchant displays for the customer to scan or one the customer presents for the merchant to read. The code encodes the payee details and often the amount, so no card terminal or card entry is needed. Adoption is heavy in markets where mobile wallets and national instant-payment schemes are the default way to pay in person.
